Superheroes may have met their greatest adversary Jodie Foster.
The 55-year-old has claimed Comic book movies are ruining cinema.
In an interview with Radio Times Magazine, the actor and director slammed the likes of Marvel and DC production as the cinematic equivalent of fracking.
'Going to the movies has become like a theme park,' she said.
'Studios making bad content in order to appeal to the masses and shareholders is like fracking you get the best return right now but you wreck the earth.'
She continued: 'Its ruining the viewing habits of the American population and then ultimately the rest of the world.
The two-time Oscar winner, who directed the likes of Nell, The Beaver, The Brave One and Money Monster, insisted she didn't want to make '$200m movies about superheroes.'
However, she would consider a superhero protagonist if they had 'really complex psychology'.

She has the money and the connections to get any kind of movie she wants made.
Hey, she Direct “The Beaver”. Give her some credit.
I just want to know who sent her the Script. It was probably a joke that got out of hand.
“I agree with her to a point on this.”

She’s correct on the crappy state of film, she’s goofy in trying to compare it to fracking.
What you are overlooking is that they do. At least in the Marvel Universe they do.
It is weird but they are the few movies that actually have a complex plot line and character development.
They may not be to your taste but they are telling a story.
“She could have said this by just writing Movies today stink. But noooo, she has to go all political about it.”

Yup.
Never been easier or cheaper to make independent “films. “
Jodie Foster?
Was he one of the sons in My Three Sons?
“But I will say the comparison with fracking, though, is ridiculous.”
Agreed. She has a point, but the fracking comparison is just dumb.
Fracking has positive results as opposed to superhero movies.
These movies about grown men running around in their pajamas and capes reek of faggotry.
Virtue signalers gonna virtue signal.
Just what does it take to impress her?
Is it ironic that a lesbian directed “The Beaver”?...
DiCaprio and Scorsese are putting together a movie on the life of Teddy Roosevelt this year that should be a showstopper.
This guy did everything (Mayor, Governor, Police Chief, Secretary of the Navy, Colonel that led men into battle, explorer, naturalist, President), was second in achievement next to Washington, and has been largely ignored by American cinema.
in other words they are not giving me the big budget superhero movies so I hate them but I would change my tune if I was allowed to direct one....I myself wish that other big budget movies were being made besides the marvel movies but I don’t think they are crap or killing movies. what is killing movies is bad writing and bad directing.
She’s right about the movies. But it’s a stupid analogy, one that people living in the wealthy leftist bubble would make.
I agree with you, but on the times that I still go out to a movie it’s the kids who fill the theaters. We’ve been expecting the death of the theaters since VHS players came out.
I guess when you’re too young to go to a bar or do the other things adults do, the movies remain 1st option.
“Jodie Foster, the dyke, whose most memorable role was getting gang banged on a pinball machine”
Have you forgotten her touching portrayal as a 12 year old hooker?
Didnt she peak in Taxi Driver?
