Another report to make women feel uncomfortable about them selves. How many will jump on board this one?

I tried this diet once for two weeks. It definitely works extremely quickly for weight loss, but it would give me a terrible headache everyday so I gave it up.

My nurse practitioner suggested the Keto diet to me a couple of weeks ago. I’ve bought a few Keto books and have started subscribing to some Keto channels on YouTube. Looks pretty good and effective...I just hate the thought of giving up my yummy carbs.

Guess I’ll give it a whirl...next year!

Low carb is a great way to lose weight, and most people mistake the Atkins first two weeks for a lifestyle. There’s a limit to how much energy the body can generate from fat stores. It will take resources from other lean tissue (muscle) if that amount is exceeded. x10 seems like hype.

I’ve been reading and researching the neuroscience of starvation this past week.

Ketones are far, far more important than most scientists realize. They are actually a preferred fuel for the brain over glucose.

In addition, they lower oxygen consumption of the body. Research has shown that ketosis doubles a diver’s ability to hold their breath.

The have also discovered that the normal ketone level of a one month old baby is 5 times the normal adult. They facilitate rapid fetal development.

Ketones are used as fuel in every cell of the body except red blood cells which have no mitochondria.

This topic is fascinating to me. Writing a summary paper on it now for a chapter in a book.

When doing this, it is good to watch blood acid level so as to not create ketone acidosis, common to diabetics.

Fried Pork Skins = my potato chips (my lipid profile beats that of my 35 year old doctor) Be sure not to get the BBQ version, it’s loaded with MSG

I had epilepsy for 15 yrs and know how much my brain needs fat. I also now suffer from low blood sugar so I am a bacon, cheesesteak, pizza lover. My pizza shop has a gluten free (rice dough) pizza but I haven’t ordered it yet. I should. what time is it? They’re open!

You could definitely lose a ton of weight while eating 50% or more of your calories in fat, but stick to healthy fat or you will still be filled with inflammation (cause of diseases).

And there is no reason to go full keto unless you have one of the conditions it fights. There is a good reason to make sure that your carb ratio is high enough to get in enough food for your good bacteria. They eat starches. So low carb is good but natural starches like root veggies and seeds or beans should be in the daily diet. You don’t need much. Feed them for your own health.

And protein should still be quite high. The good thing is that healthy animal protein always has fat built in.

These kind of diets make you feel hungry. Look up “why am I so hungry on a carb free diet”. People can’t afford to eat like this. You have to eat all the time, or large amts of food to feel full. Ridiculous.

I lost 40lbs in 6 months and kept it off. Easiest thing I have ever done, but it’s more of a lifestyle change. Started bringing some carbs back in just low portions and doing well. So happy I tried it and was able to stick with it..

Hey, Haters and Cynics - Keto works. Intermittent fasting added to Keto works even better.

It’s been a God-send and life saver. The last few weeks we’ve slacked off and feel like crap, keep laughing at each other’s renewed bellies.

We’ll back to it ASAP.

Our Keto is slightly lower fat, slightly higher protein. It works. Got questions? Please ask.

low-carb so no chips and soda pop?
How do I survive work in a cubicle?

FTA: The keto diet generally shuns sugar, processed foods, low-fat foods, grains and gluten, high-carb fruit, and vegetable oils. Instead, followers are encouraged to eat plenty of non-starchy vegetables, lean meats and fish, full-fat dairy, and nuts and seeds.
