Los Angeles gets an unwarranted rap as a bad sports town, and Fox Sports isnt helping LA fans fight that label.
Fox posted a listing on the casting site projectcasting.com for actors, models, and talent to play Rams fans on its Sunday NFL pre-game show. With the Rams facing off against the Philadelphia Eagles in a match-up of two of the leagues best teams, you wouldnt think itd be necessary, but alas.
Were looking for LAs biggest NFL fans to be part of #NFLSundays Los Angeles Rams vs. Philadelphia Eagles Pre Game Show! said the ad. Come out, bring your spirit, your best NFL gear & join us for NFL on FOX THIS Sunday!
No word on if the fans would actually be able to attend the game. The Rams have been a pleasant surprise this season, with a high-octane offense spurring the team on to a 9-3 record. But the teams attendance woes have continued to be the butt of internet jokes, with the L.A. Coliseum routinely looking half-empty on game day.
The push to have actors masquerading as fans wasnt lost on some looking at the casting call, however.
Seems desperate to me! chimed in one Eagles fan in the comments.
So, keep in mind as youre watching football on Sunday: That attractive, fit, and photogenic Rams fan in the background of Foxs pre-game show might just be a Hollywood nomad.
Update: A Fox representative told TheWrap this is not an abnormal practice that it calls for fans to show up in any city their pre-game show is in. The rep added no one was paid for their fandom, its first come, first serve.
MMW, the next time it will not be volunteers...
Wouldn’t surprise me.
Not seeing a big deal here. You think those spontaneous displays of fandom they use in the bumpers are actually spontaneous. It’s how people get on TV.
The national felon league is finished. “The sons of botches wont stand for the flag and we can’t stand them!! My house w2ill watch none of it!! EVER
So, I guess that would make Sean McVay the new Harvey Weinstein?
Next time, I’ll watch to see how good looking the ‘fans’ are. If it’s anything like the audience of Judge Judy, which is also made up of extras, there won’t be an ugly mug in sight.
Like the ad says “Real people, not actors” meaning that actors are not real people.
Years ago North Korea had an extremely involved media coverage campaign of their participation in the World Soccer World Cup. There was just ONE catch:
North Korea wasn’t IN the World Cup.
Through creative editing they deceived the ENTIRE country.
They would have a clip of a NK soccer player scoring a goal, then they’d put in a clip of astonished, admiring fans from the world over, the fans going wild.
Day after day, it was like that, presumably the entire NK viewing public thunderstruck with national pride at their trouncing of all teams daring to challenge Mighty North Korea.
NONE OF THEIR PLAYERS WERE THERE.
This NFL monkey biz sounds vaguely similar.
The thugs of the BLM/NFL are still rolling down hill; but at this point what does it matter? The TNF game lost another 5% and worse still is that NO ONE CARES!
Los Angeles gets an unwarranted rap as a bad sports town...
Now thats fake news. It is true that fans wont show up unless youre a winner, and LA fans dont rush out for the latest NFL transplant in an old venue, but bad sports town? Really?
When you add up all the Olympics, Super Bowls, World Series, NBA and NHL finals, plus Rose Bowl Games, you wont find another city that can match that record. On weekends when USC and UCLA both play home football games, the combined crowd exceeds most every other major football power. Oh, soccer is big here too.
Yeah, bad sports town.
LOL. Well they certainly seem to be phony and shallow.
The weather accounts for the biggest reason for most of those events.
True, but ...
I was at a college football game with my early 20s daughter that was being broadcast by ESPN. They sought out young, enthusiastic fans as she was, to display team spirit before the game minus their adult beverages. (I held her beer.) So it was staged but everyone there was going to the game.

Gotta fill the seat somehow.
Actually, that was a parody.

NBA and NHL are played indoors.
Hehe. Good idea.
