You think those spontaneous displays of fandom they use in the bumpers are actually spontaneous. It’s how people get on TV.

True, but ...

I was at a college football game with my early 20s daughter that was being broadcast by ESPN. They sought out young, enthusiastic fans as she was, to display team spirit before the game minus their adult beverages. (I held her beer.) So it was staged but everyone there was going to the game.

This anecdote is probably as fictitious as dumping gasoline in ditches, but here it is anyway. You don’t see them as much as you used to, but there used to be a lot of hand written banners hanging down from the stands near the edge of the field. Remember those? A friend of mine was in a stadium before the opened they gates to let the fans in, and he said the banners were already there!

And probably everybody Fox is showing is going to be there too. They just want to get them in one spot, well lit, with waivers signed.
