Senate panel building obstruction of justice case against Trump over Comey firing, Feinstein says
The Senates investigation into Russian election meddling is crafting a possible obstruction of justice case against President Trump, the panels top Democrat said Sunday.
The case has become clearer after Michael Flynn pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI on Friday, said Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), ranking member of the Senate Judiciary Committee.
The panel has an investigation going as well and it involves obstruction of justice and I think what we're beginning to see is the putting together of a case of obstruction of justice, she told Meet the Press.
Trump suggested in a Saturday tweet that he had to fire General Flynn because he lied to the Vice President and the FBI.
Panel? What panel, cause it sure won’t be the full committee report.
And even according to Comey’s own testimony (which Trump disputes), Trump only said he “hoped” they wouldn’t charge Flynn, which isn’t an order. And according to reports of Comey’s closed testimony to Congress, they weren’t going to charge Flynn, only Mueller did.
Also, Comey testified under oath he never felt pressured by any President to do anything illegal, which would include Trump.
Ain’t it funny Difi that every democratbin the country wanted Comey fired in October of 2016?

Sheesh. Democrat in...
5.56mm
Total BS.
-> Gee, did Mrs. Bloom mention that the DAG Mr. Rosenstein was the guy who recommended firing Comey?
Bingo. A decision Rosenstein said he still fully supported when he testified before Congress later.
Clearly Comey was a criminal leaker, as demonstrated after his firing. Justice should have been investigating him since the firing as the source of many leaks over the preceding years.
If there were democrat scum like Feinstein around at the time, they would be plotting how to impeach George Washington.
Whats next THEY going to claim he is an ET
Trump understands the media better than you may think . Perhaps by posting this tweet he redirected the media’s energy . I turned on CNN and MSNBC today and this is all they can talk about ,, not much at all on taxes or Roy Moore etc. .
The Dims don’t really believe he’s mentally challenged ,, what they really fear his cunning intellect .
This is nothing but swamp trash talk.
My first cousin, a navy vet, worked for the phone company in the White House from Nixon thru old man Bush. The Clintons replaced everyone when they came in, including phone company employees. Trump can replace whoever he wants, especially Comey.
Funny thing is, the whole “treason” and “collaborating with the Russians” schemes STARTS with Obama and Hillary actually getting paid off by the Russians for her State Dept position BEFORE Trump took office, was publicized DURING the official Trump turnover of office as the next president, and ENDS with Oboma overseas as a democrat ex-President negotiating with the Russians (er, Chinese) as a private citizen with no power of office!
What the hell is a Senate panel? A bunch of Dem Senators hanging out in the cloakroom?
She is on the Judiciary Committee but she didnt the committee was investigating. She said a Senate panel is investigating.
“If charges are filed against President Trump or any of his close relatives there will be a constitutional crisis.”
You are right.
To whom does Mueller answer? Rosenstein (now in place of the AG ), who answers to the President (in this investigation). To whom does the President answer? To the people, via the Electoral College or through their representatives (i.e the impeachment process). I would argue, under Separation of Powers, and as head of the Executive branch, he cannot be put in legal jeopardy for obstruction of justice discharging the duties of his office. Otherwise, those bringing those charges are accountable to no one. The Trump haters don’t have to like his reason, Trump could even give a very bad reason for firing him (like he doesn’t like the way he chews his food) - but the remedy is at the ballot box - either the people’s vote or impeachment (indirectly by the people). To impeach however puts the Congress’ political electability / viability at risk - as they too are accountable to the people.
Final point, does that mean a President cannot obstruct justice? The President can obstruct justice, but not legally. Consider Obama in the middle of an “active investigation” of Lois Lerner and the IRS announced in a tv interview that there was not a “smidgen of evidence” of agency wrongdoing. He used the pretext of an “interview” to telegraph to his executive branch “investigators” where this was going to end on their desks. Who in the agency would do otherwise? He did not have to pick up a phone, send an email, write a letter, to circumvent justice. In 2015, when there was enough time elapsed since his interview, a “miracle” happened - the DOJ cleared the IRS and Lois Lerner of any wrongdoing. Hence, Obama did not have to take action of a bold-faced lie, and abuse the office of the President to overrule his executive branch - his underlings knew what needed to be done. No, these people are really clever, except they are not to any thinking person. One day, some of them will wake up knowing that they did the wrong thing, and have to carry that in their mind and heart for the rest of their lives. Their place in history will not be a good one.
The Prez can fire the FBI Director any time he wants with or without the approval of a Party of treasonous pothead pedophile-enablers.
The Democrat Party harpies heckle, chatter and jeer. Since Hillary started talking through Bill during the early ‘90s, that’s what they do.
Exactly, so I don’t know what the hell these a-holes are on about, and what galls me is these mofos obstruct justice at every turn. What the hell do they think that whole Bill Clinton/Loretta Lynch meeting was about? Or that fake “investigation” of Hillary where Comey never had any intention of charging her.
It’s all projection. Blatant obvious projection.
If they’re looking for obstruction of justice they need to look for Eric the Red Holder. Bastards. We’re still not going to vote for you.
