NFL Protests Reach A Boiling Point, As Players, Owners Cancel Social Concerns Meeting
Deadline Hollywood ^ | October 29, 2017 | Bruce Haring

Things are going from bad to worse regarding relations between NFL players, owners and fans.

On a day when the largest national anthem protest yet was staged, it now appears that players and owners will not be meeting as planned to discuss a solution to the ongoing social justice concerns that prompted the protests.

Philadelphia Eagles safety Malcolm Jenkins, one of the key spokesmen for the players, says a meeting between the owners and players to discuss social justice initiatives has been canceled. Jenkins claimed the league did not accept an invitation for the meeting, which was to be held Monday in Philadelphia, saying scheduling issues would not permit them to attend.

Exactly. So many ways they could be constructive and excellent role models.

As a former intern with the AAU in the admin offices, I can state that if the player is on most athletic scholarships- which is 90% certain since the entry SAT’s are only marginally considered in these cases, said young man doesn’t even have to show up for scheduled classes to receive passing marks. There are, as well, pools of paid assistants that ball players can access to have course work done.

ESPN is reporting that Jerry Jones has group of 17 owners in favor of ending negotiations with Goodell for a contract extension. It takes 24 owners to terminate him and if they choose not to extend his contract he will be essentially fired.

Check these two movies made in the 1970’s on this subject, both were very good, “Two Minute Warning”, and “Black Sunday”.

The damage has already been done in some cases.

I quit following the NFL earlier in the season so news reports are my only way of getting information, not that I care.

As the players double down on stupid, more fans will revolt .

Along your line of thought.

Make each player an owner/participant of his team. Each player is give a book of tickets that they must sell prior to each game. The more they sell the bigger their paycheck. The less they sell the smaller the paycheck.

At some point there will not be enough hours to sell tickets and practice. What will the owner/participant do? Spend time selling tickets and accept poorer performance? What fan would buy a ticket then? Spend time at practice and accept a smaller paycheck? What player would accept a smaller life style?

My plan would force the entire NFL and the cities that have sports stadiums to accept economic realities; something that none of them have done since they were in elementary school.

Just an idea.

“How in hell did they make it thru 4 years in college and be so damn stupid”

“special” football player classes like Underwater Basket Weaving 101, sympathetic professors (wink, wink), personal tutors to make sure players can pass Underwater Basket Weaving 101, etc.

I used to be a big fan and I gave up on the NFL. Don’ know and don’t care anymore what goes on with them. I’ll watch some college football.

But as far as the NFL they are the toilet bowl.

Release all of the protesting inmates and cotton pickers...

You dont need to include the KKK comments on this site. This site is already under very heavy scrutiny already.

“These are supposedly COLLEGE AND UNIVERSITY GRADUATES...........How in hell did they make it thru 4 years in college and be so damn stupid?..................”

Easy. They create special remedial classes for them and only them that any 5th grader could pass. They also have free full time tutors whos entire job is to make sure they do not fail their fifth grade classes

I have noticed that the NCAA games no longer tell what the players are majoring in during pregame lineup recognition. I can still remember that Payton Manning was majoring in “communications”.

Imagine, if you will, a league filled with players like Jordy Nelson, Rob Gronkowski, and Luke Kuechly ...

But that would be WAAAACCCIIIISTTTT!!!

The protesters are the filth and scum of the earth ... there I said it. These spoiled, entitiled ghetto trash are completing Obama’s work in fomenting a race war.

Meanwhile, in MLB, we have a classic world series shaping up. And the only MLBer to “take a knee,” Bruce Maxwell of the As, was just arrested for aggravated assault.

They're athletes and they get special treatment at universities. Everybody else has to earn their degree.

Plus everybody makes special exceptions because they are always getting hit in the head. Is it any wonder these guys can even make it to the games, or know what their names are.

The TV networks should demand to renegotiate their NFL contracts immediately.

Yeah, except for the fact that the networks are on the side of the players, and we know the networks will stick to their liberal dogma no matter what.

Why don’t they REALLY protest by burning the flag during the Anthem..why not?? And they can quit the NFL and start community outreach centers(crack houses). They sure hate the USA and old whitey but they like the money....
