NFL Protests Reach A Boiling Point, As Players, Owners Cancel Social Concerns Meeting
Deadline Hollywood ^ | October 29, 2017 | Bruce Haring

Things are going from bad to worse regarding relations between NFL players, owners and fans.

On a day when the largest national anthem protest yet was staged, it now appears that players and owners will not be meeting as planned to discuss a solution to the ongoing social justice concerns that prompted the protests.

Philadelphia Eagles safety Malcolm Jenkins, one of the key spokesmen for the players, says a meeting between the owners and players to discuss social justice initiatives has been canceled. Jenkins claimed the league did not accept an invitation for the meeting, which was to be held Monday in Philadelphia, saying scheduling issues would not permit them to attend.

How in hell did they make it thru 4 years in college and be so damn stupid?

The answer to your question is easy. Most athletic departments place pressure on professors to ensure that players pass courses (even if they do so by the skin of their teeth). This is done with the blessing of University Administration.

I’m waiting for these NFL racist thugs to go to their high-income towns and gated communities and DEMAND that low income housing be built on property near their houses.

The owners can stop this by lining up veterans on both sidelines during the National Anthem to keep the cameras off these America-hating, millionaire ***holes.

NFL will soon realize their former fans are instead enjoying time spent with family and fans who don’t insult them at every opportunity. I have not seen a game all season and I do not miss it.

Ditto! Two years ago I probably watched 50 games, last year maybe half. I have not watched 1 minute this year.

“Inmates running the asylum”, “Crackheads running the crack house”..........

I don’t see much difference. Many of those “protestors” have either already spent time in jail or definitely belong in jail. I have ZERO sympathy for none of them.

Probably hasn’t run out of money yet.

No doubt. The NFL has lost control of it’s business.

Goodell and the front office created this mess. Really, Goodell should be fired. Should have been fired long ago.

What employer anywhere deliberately allows their employees make the rules and then do as they please?

It is now a fact, the inmates are running the asylum. At this moment I see no resolution to this without some catastrophic reset. We are at the point where only some type of dramatic event must occur for this to become resolved.

I grew up loving football, but now this has turned into nothing but a race-based sideshow. Let’s face it, the NFL is 75% Black and it is now the rich Black guys who have now poisoned the well. They have urinated in their own bowl of Cheerios.

Good luck.

Since they hate our country they can go play someplace else.

NFL: Negros, Felons, and Liberals.

>>players and owners will not be meeting as planned to discuss a solution to the ongoing social justice concerns that prompted the protests.

I think that the owners should just tell the players that from this point forward, 95% of your paycheck will be donated to non-profits that are doing work in this area. The players could easily still live just fine on the remaining 10%, and since they are all so very concerned about these issues, I suspect none of them would have a problem with it.

95% should have been 90% (oops), yes I can do math.

I read somewhere that within 4 years of ‘retiring’ from NFL/NBA, these overpaid, pampered and catered to jerks are broke and looking for menial jobs, because their ‘education’ is so nonexistent..............

That's a rhetorical question, right?

Inmates running the asylum.

Someone please tell me what other job would allow the workers to get away with what they've already done, much less let it continue to escalate?

Personally, I'd rather have a descent guy that I can feel good cheering for, and lose, than an All Pro that has a rap sheet and win.

Ditto what you said. I'm surprised that I've not missed it a bit.

I forgot about football on both Monday and Thursday nights last week. Not "didn't watch", not "boycotted". Forgot about it completely.

Two years ago, such a thing would have been unthinkable for me.

When truly hardcore fans go "indifferent", that bodes poorly for the sport.

Agree

Owners and players are heading to courthouse for years of litigation.

I foresee owners terminating players who don’t follow rules KNOWING full well they will get sued but feeling they have no choice since it’s either fire
the EMPLOYEE OR lose control of his multi billion dollar business to uneducated, room temp, black thugs.

Games will be cancelled, teams will suspend operations, there may be a lockout.
