If Trump is the Republican id, this exchange between Laura Ingraham and Krauthammer is a dialogue between the ego and superego. Ingraham, a nationalist, is all about the agenda. Was Trump’s presser today a good thing? Well, she says, he made some solid points — but it wasn’t useful. It didn’t advance the ball on policy. Krauthammer, a conservative, isn’t interested in that right now. Was it moral, he asks? Was it right?
I wonder how many variations of this exchange are playing out within the administration tonight. Watch this quickie clip of Chuck Todd speculating that John Kelly’s going to end up having to talk people out of quitting over today’s spectacle. Um, I doubt it. Since when do Republicans balk at anything Trump does?

Kelly himself is reportedly not a happy man this evening:
Uh-oh a source tells @SaraMurray new White House Chief of Staff John Kelly is very frustrated with how today played out.

He looked every inch of it standing off to Trump’s side during today’s presser.
Oh — this guy was unhappy too. I know, I know: He’s a cuck.
No, not the same. One side is racist, bigoted, Nazi. The other opposes racism and bigotry. Morally different universes.

Somehow the back and forth between Ingraham and Krauthammer ends with them debating whether Trump’s statement yesterday, in which he denounced white nationalists after hedging on Saturday, reflects what’s actually in his heart or not. If you don’t believe the reporting on that, just watch the guy talk. When Trump is reading from a script, it’s abundantly clear. He speaks more slowly and his sentences are conspicuously more measured than when he’s rat-a-tat riffing on his thoughts, as he obviously was today. What happened the past few days isn’t complicated. He softballed his comments about the alt-right on Saturday, was cajoled by his aides into saying something more emphatic about them yesterday, then resented the fact that he’d been pressured into clarifying his remarks and decided to double down on the “both sides” point today off the cuff. Yesterday’s statement almost amounted to an apology for Saturday’s comments, and you know how Trump feels about apologies. Today he un-apologized.
Trump said we condemn in the strongest possible terms this egregious display of hatred bigotry and violence on many sides.
The complainers’ position appears to be that hatred bigotry and violence is ok depending on who commits it. How dare Trump condemn all offenders, not just some.
So how did the Skokie march advance the progressive cause?
“Two of my producers just got sprayed with urine. Lovely. Hard to keep your cool.
Katie Couric (@katiecouric) August 12, 2017”
I watched a replay of his Tuesday news conference.
I was pleasantly impressed.
He called out both sides as being at fault
and deftly handled the press.
...and he made the point that only one group had a permit to be there.
We love when Trump is Trump.
Trump should just bite the bullet and invite Antifa and the various communist groups to the White House for a kumbaya fest and maybe award them the Medal of Freedom. Would THAT be enough to satisfy everyone?
And that grinning idiot Romney — he probably wakes up every morning thinking, “Jeepers, how I wish I were president.” And Ann replies, “There, there, dear. People just didn’t realize how good you are.”. I hope he rots from the inside out before he dies. I don’t know which was the worst vote I ever cast — the McCain vote or the Romney one. I have to console myself with the knowledge that I never voted for either of them in a primary.
The Vice Mayoral of Charlottesville, without authority, pulled their permit. The ACLU and the organizers went to a Federal judge who ordered it be reinstated on violation of the 1st Amendment grounds. Then the morning of the event, the city officials in violation of the court order CANCELLED THE EVENT AGAIN, and forced the demonstrators from the vicinity of the statue right into the waiting ANTIFA and Black Lives Matter counter-protestors and then announced they were "standing down as it was too dangerous!"
None of this is being properly reported by the media.
Chuck Sauerkraut: What a putz!
You got it right:

Then the morning of the event, the city officials in violation of the court order CANCELLED THE EVENT AGAIN, and forced the demonstrators from the vicinity of the statue right into the waiting ANTIFA and Black Lives Matter counter-protestors and then announced they were “standing down as it was too dangerous!”

Let’s face it, Kraut is an intellectual disgrace.
Romney supports antifa to virtue signal to the upper crust socialist Republicans who supported him? Color me shocked! This is the same man who went after the Boy Scouts for not caving to the Sodomite lobby
This fool lives in an alternate universe. President Trump killed it with his press conference. He totally owned the press and their sleazy attempts to create false narratives regarding Charlottesville. Krauthammer and his ilk have lost the ability to sway public opinion with their special brand of stupidity. The public has no need to be ‘educated’ about the truth by our inferiors like Krauthammer.
Permit was pulled then ACLU got a judge to reinstate it Fiday night.
Police initially declared an unlawful assembly at Emancipation Park at 11:35 a.m., just before the scheduled noon start time for the rally.
That pretty much canceled the permits.
If you march with racist and violent Antifa and BLM people you're a "counter demonstrator".
Counter Demonstrators are of course good people.
Any questions?
They are the new "White Rose" in the eyes of the media.
It’s revealing that the media doesn’t want antifa and blm to be criticized as violent.
