Does anyone recognize this historic corrupt politician?

Thomas Ludwig John D'Alesandro Jr. (August 1, 1903 – August 23, 1987) was an American politician who was a U.S. Representative from Maryland's 3rd congressional district (1939–47) and subsequently the mayor of Baltimore.

D'Alesandro was born in Baltimore, the son of Maria Petronilla and Tommaso G. D'Alesandro, who were born in Montenerodomo, Abruzzo, South Italy. He was married to Annunciata M. ("Nancy") Lombardi.

A Democrat, D'Alesandro served as a member of the Maryland State House of Delegates from 1926 to 1933. After serving in Annapolis, D'Alesandro was then appointed as General Deputy Collector of Internal Revenue, a post in which he served during 1933–1934. He then was elected to serve on the Baltimore City Council from 1935 to 1938.

D'Alesandro was then elected to the 76th Congress and to the four succeeding Congresses, serving from January 3, 1939, until he resigned on May 16, 1947. While in Congress, D'Alesandro strongly supported the Bergson Group, a "political action committee set up to that challenged the Roosevelt Administration's policies on the Jewish refugee issue during the Holocaust, and later lobbied against British control of Palestine" despite his equally strong support for Roosevelt's other policies. Following his service in Congress he was Mayor of Baltimore for 12 years from May 1947 to May 1959. He was defeated for renomination by the Democrats in the March 1959 primary election. He was also an unsuccessful candidate for the United States Senate in 1958.

D'Alesandro ran for Governor of Maryland in 1954, but was forced to drop out due to being implicated in receiving undeclared money from Dominic Piracci, a parking garage owner convicted of fraud, conspiracy, and conspiracy to obstruct justice.

D'Alesandro was a delegate to every Democratic National Convention from 1944 to 1968.

FBI Files: Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi's Father Thomas D'Alesandro Jr. Was "Constant Companion" Of Notorious Mobster Benjamin Magliano

Nancy Pelosi's father Thomas D'Alesandro Jr. allegedly was a "constant companion" of notorious mobster Benjamin "Benny Trotta" Magliano and other underworld figures during his political years in Baltimore, MD. D'Alesandro was a Congressman for five terms from 1938 to 1947, and Baltimore mayor for three terms from 1947 to 1959. Magliano was identified by the FBI as one of Baltimore's "top hoodlums," and he widely was acknowledged as the representative for New York's Frankie Carbo who made his bones with Murder, Inc. and later became a made guy in the Lucchese family. The allegations are included in D'Alesandro's recently-released FBI files which Friends of Ours has obtained pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act.

It wouldn’t surprise me a bit if most of the congresscretins have similar histories. The Kennedy “Camelot” myth was built on a foundation of illegal booze smuggling during prohibition. Probably most elected officials at the national level have benefitted from criminal activity (theirs or their parents/grandparents).

And no, that’s not intended as an excuse for Pelosi or any sort of cover. She’s horrid and didn’t fall far from her father’s horrid tree, to mangle a metaphor.

The really stupid "CAMELOT" myth was concocted out of whole cloth, by Jackie Kennedy and was a massive rewriting of factual history/propaganda.

Anyone who was alive back then and at least 18, should know the truth; but sadly, many just swallowed that piece of propaganda without thinking.

JFK's presidency was riddle with strikes, the BAY OF PIGS disaster, the Cuban Missile Crisis mess, sending a ton of "advisors" ( military ) to Nam, Kruchev's speech at the UN and treating JFK and America badly, and yes, turmoil here. He was in Dallas that fateful day, because even with LBJ and his ability re voter fraud/"fixing" elections, they were not only going to loose Texas, in their re-election run, but the the election! Hell....even the N.Y. Times ran front page, above the fold, anti-Kennedy/his administration articles!

Joseph P Kennedy also made his bones in the stock market, where he excelled at insider trading, front-running, manipulation and fraud. He was actually selected as the first chairman of the SEC since he had the experience to know what dirty deeds and shenanigans should be eliminated.

I was 8 when he was killed, by 11 we knew about Marilyn Monroe and the Kennedy boys (my buddy Ronny taught me all the bad words too)

Nancy’s daddy. He taught her well.

Nepotism has always been a big problem in this country. If like to see a law that no one can hold office if anyone in that person’s immediate family has held office. There are plenty of good people around so that we don’t have choose between a governor’s son and a retard or place holder.

His son is heading up a “land development combine” in west Travis County which will do little other than to rape the hill country while making him and his buddies billions of dollars.

Yes, you did know about that, but I bet that you didn’t/don’t know about the strikes, the unions messes, the anti-Kennedy stuff in the N.Y. Times, and such until I posted about them. And now you do. :-)
