Mark Cropp just wants to to get a job and support his family, but something unique is holding him back.
A giant tattoo saying “DEVAST8” covers half of his face, and, perhaps not surprisingly, it’s off-putting for potential employers.
The teenager, born in Oamaru in the southern part of the country, told the New Zealand Herald he had it inked a few months ago, while drunk on homebrew in a jail cell in Christchurch, New Zealand.

I suspect his tendency to get drunk on homebrew while in prison, which led to this utterly stupid tattoo, have a little something to do with his employment difficulties, too. But, if he still suspects it’s that utterly stupid tattoo, he could always grow one of those oddly effeminate metro beards to cover it up.
I don’t understand why these hateful companies won’t hire this upstanding member of the community. Must be racism...or something.
I guess he can always grow a beard to hide it...

One of his fellow prison inmates while they were all drunk on homebrew. From the looks of the thing I’d wonder if he wasn’t aborigine, maybe amused at the prospect of defacing a stupid drunk white guy, and the looks of it are sort of vaguely Maori.
(Maybe they could all get into professional wrestling or something...)
I suppose growing a full beard would help a little but that stint in the pokey - I’m sure that doesn’t help much either.
Perhaps he should get someone to spot him a marker pen and a big piece of white cardboard for “Will Work for Food” but he needs to get someone to proofread it for him before he displays it on the curb.
See, now he’d be perfect for that! The goggles would be in just the right place.

I lived in San Francisco for years. Whenever I went to a restaurant or store where they hired staff with facial tatoos and metal piercings and spiked orange hair, I just never went back.
I is smart for businesses not to hire these offensive looking people. The reality is they do cause a drop in business. It is shame the young people doing it are so oblivious to how their repulsive looks make it difficult for people put off by them to have to look at their face and deal with them.
I’m guessing guy #2 has a checkered past.
If I was a CEO I would not hire anyone with visible Tattoo’s!
