And why?
1. Don’t lie.
2. Life is not all that complicated.
Shut up!!
50+ years ago, when I graduated from college, and was newly engaged, my dear old daddy ( He will be 100 yrs. old in Sept),told me to always be a rose in the parlor and a tiger in the boudoir. It has worked for 54 years.
Life ain’t fair and the world doesn’t owe you a living.
If you are worried about something, ask yourself “Is there something I can do about it?” If the answer is yes, then get busy doing it, and if the answer is no, don’t worry it is in God’s hands.
Took me over 30 years to heed that one.
In my yearbookk: “Never sell yourself short.” Never have. Never will. Thanks, daddy!
My father was outside on the screened in porch of his big house watching the mets on a Saturday evening in June. My favorite boyfriend showed up unannounced with a six pack of beer. I was miffed at him for not calling me to set a date. I was busy. I sent him out to meet my father. Nicey meany?
My father told me later that guy is a man. I was 16. I knew what he meant. I drove the guy away. Sorry I did. No doubt I’d have been sorrier if I hadn’t. No doubt. Thanks Dad.
Buy a good car and drive it until it drops. He said you will never get ahead if you are always in debt paying for a new car.
I took his advice. I have only owned two new cars in my life, and I’m 62. Right now I drive a 17-year old GMC Sierra with 250,000 miles on it and it’s still going strong. It’s never had any mechanical issues so I’ll drive it until it drops. I retired at 58, own a 50 acre farm paid in full, and have no debt.
“Never quit anything you started”. RIP Ron Blakney, 173rd Airborne Vietnam. 1947-1995.
Alcohol and guns don’t mix!
My old man owned quite a few guns over the years and drank like a fish.
But never at the same time...
If a frog had wings, he wouldn’t get his ass bumped.
One boy can do the work of one boy; two boys do half the work of one; three boys don’t do anything but get in trouble.
Use the proper tool for a proper job; otherwise get a bigger hammer.
Don’t worry about the front; fill the back of the shovel.
A shovel, box, or wheelbarrow ain’t never filled itself.
No one gets rich working for someone else.
To never volunteer, I learned the hard way when I joined the army.
2 that always stuck with me,
Its all about attitude
Andd
If it was that easy, everybody would be doin it
“When doing business, always do it straight and honest. The guys that cut corners never last.”
Igor: You know, I'll never forget my old dad. When these things would happen to him... the things he'd say to me.
Dr. Frederick Frankenstein: What did he say?
Igor: "What the hell are you doing in the bathroom day and night? Why don't you get out of there and give someone else a chance?"
You have to have an excellent memory to be a good liar.
My dad handed me lots of advice and never explained ‘why’ on anything.
I’m all about ‘why’ so, I heeded nothing he said, and learned the hard way right up until this very day.
There is a lot that I wish I had heeded.
“It’s hard to hear with your head in your rear”
I do remember that one, never understood it until I had my own son.
