And why?
My Dad passed away just about six months ago so this is the first Father’s Day without him.
The best advice I got he sent me in a letter when I was in college. His advice was when you get up in the morning expect the worse for the day and always have a backup plan in anticipation, on some days have a backup plan to the backup plan. That advice has stood me well as it did him.
My pleasure.
I’m so sorry.
Listen to me. Been there and done it the hard way. You listen and I will save you a lot of problems.
I did NOT, and he was RIGHT.
“Self praise STINKS”!
Now, I wonder what OUR kids would say is the best advice WE ever gave THEM...?
Dear Saxxon,
re: “Didnt come from my father, but a good piece of advice I got was: The first 40 hours you work every week pays the bills. Its the hours you work after 40 that builds wealth.”
Another one from Dad:
‘40 hours = bread and butter ... over 40 hours pays for the jam to put on top of the butter!”
“Shoot the first LEGAL deer you see...You can’t eat antlers...”
To marry an ugly woman....
They try harder because they have to ....
Don’t know about “best” ... many good things, some of which I may post later. But this one always stuck in my mind:
If you absolutely MUST get a tattoo, make sure it says something like ‘I Love Mom’. You’ll never be ashamed of that.
Your word is your bond, if your word means nothing then a contract signed by you is worthless.
Gambling is for fools, better to throw your money in the outhouse than give it to a gambler.
New and Improved is usually neither.
When you shoot at at moving target, lead it a bit.
I was fortunate; None.
He was "successful" but irresponsible.
If I ever lived one day in his household, I have no memory of it.
I also learned about priorities in life:
.
“A good woman, a good meal and a good crap.....”
But...not in that order....
Sad to hear that.
Does the song “Pappa was a Rolling Stone” strike a chord with you?
I don’t ask that to be a wise-ass... that song always was a sad song to me.
“Love is blind but the neighbors ain’t.”
LOL!
Sit tall in the saddle
Read quality books
Exhale slowly
It’s okay he was 93 and had lived a great life so no tears. I have been a little down the last few weeks but I will be fine. Two weeks ago was my birthday and that was a sad weekend.
I have so many great memories so he’s not really gone as he is always in heart and mind. Thank you.
Don’t $hit where you eat.

Mine said, "thank your father because you have something to eat.
