A University of Texas senior is facing internet backlash after being crowned Miss Black University of Texas (UT).
Rachael Malonson is biracial and said because of her skin tone, some people dont recognize that. In fact, some of her critics have told her shes not black enough.
She said she entered this pageant to feel more empowered as a black woman, but after winning the competition she was met with some criticism she didnt expect.
Someone literally asked me are you black? Can you prove it to me? Malonson said. I was like yes, my dads black and my moms white.

LOL! For the benefit of the uninformed, this is the phonetic spelling of the Sicilian dialect word for "melanzane", the Italian term for "eggplant."
"Mulinyan" or "da moolies" is Sicilian-American slang for black folks; similar to Jewish people calling African-Americans "schvartzes", the Yiddish word for "blacks."
In and of themselves, these terms are relatively harmless. But they are code words that, once understood, are viewed as racist.
Schvartzes...
I finally get confirmation of what
Mel Brooks says in
BLAZING SADDLES!
THANKS.
“If her dad is full black, she should look a lot blacker, I think.”
That isn’t necessarily true.
Funny - her critics thought Obama was plenty black enough, even though he's biracial. Maybe they should ask him what he thinks.
How black do you have to be to be ‘black’? She is beautiful, thou...
American English has appropriated many terms from Yiddish, such as schlep (to tote something or trek someplace laboriously), chutzpah (brazen arrogance), glitch (a mistake or snag that slows things down), klutz (a clumsy person), schlong (either the male sex organ; or as a verb, to overcome or to beat someone in sports, business, etc), and many others.
Who were the judges for the Miss Black University of Texas competition?
Who wants to volunteer to tell blacks they can't have a black beauty contest, a black magazine, a black prom or a black caucus if other races can't have one.
I know two young men with a black father and a white mother. The older brother has more of the father’s skin tone and shares both parents’ features about evenly. The younger brother has a much more Caucasian skin tone, but otherwise takes after his father with his facial features and curly hair.
so you’re right that it isn’t necessarily true about kids’ complexions and features vis a vis their parents. We’re all a mix of our ancestors.
Biracial??
“halfbreed”.
Wear it proudly. Or ... is she attempting to use that, like that Warren woman?
They’re just jealous because she’s a beautiful woman.

In the olden days of Blacksploitation movies, the blacker you were the more evil you were.
As an American mutt...
I self identify as Jewish.
Mel Brooks is My Standard Bearer!

“All She needs is a Nose Job!”
Kramer.
Yes, a nose job would make her look very Halle Berry.
All Righty Then!
I remember it well! Especially the campfire scene!
