These whipper snappers. "2001: A Space Odyssey" ends with a half hour of nothing but special effects tuned for heroin users. 1999 (?) "Planet of the Apes" where Earth somehow became an Ape planet can only be a result of the director being drunk when he watched the 1968 version. And has been well documented in many places, the end of "Sixth Sense" implies that Bruce Willis walked, talked, went places, ate, and lived his life for months, seeing that he had no effect on the physical world, and did not realize that anything was wrong.

Arrival, the one from last year, has an ending so bad it ruins all the interesting stuff that came before. I had to salve my moving watching conscience with much whiskey afterward.
So that part was good...
Cheers

For some real fun, go to Youtube and search “how it should have ended”.
My favorite is Avatar. They basically say to the lead character that if he had done his mission and not gotten all hot for the blue chick, everything would have been fine. And then, after they are sent off planet, two of the leaders look at each other and this conversation takes place:
Corporate stooge: “Nuke ‘em from space?”
Corporate stooges boss: “Nuke ‘em from space.”

I had a lot of complaints about the LOTR movies — and I absolutely HATED the Hobbit movies.
But I think the end of The Return of The King was not bad. They skipped “The Scouring of The Shire” which I thought was a shame, but I don’t think ROTK deserves to be on this list of bad endings.

Spiderman 3 was cringe worthy. Justifies the guy who murdered his uncle because his little girl was sick. Liberal insanity.

I think the producers of
I Am Legend anticipated this.
The DVD has an alternate ending that I liked much better.

Bad movie endings:
Every Star Trek movie. They always give the evil guys a second chance, even after butchering millions or billions of people.

Nothing wrong with the end of The Return of the King. It ends the same way the book did - Frodo leaves for the undying lands and Sam returns home to his wife and children in the Shire.
They did skip over the Scouring of the Shire and the Death of Saruman, but they did enough violence to The Lord of the Rings in those movies that it doesn’t really matter.

I thought the ending of "Titanic" was awful. You sit through that whole thing, and they can't save all those people on the ship?
Oh, wait a minute ... the sinking of the "Titanic" really happened?
