I was recently listening to radio host, Glenn Beck, and he proudly announced that he cries really often as if it is a badge of honor.
I have noticed there are many men who like being seen crying in public: Bill Clinton, Schumer, Boehner, Anderson Cooper, my former pastor.
I have not known many men to cry in public, well my former roommate in college, but we always made fun of him when he cried.
I was raised that crying for something other than a death in the family for a man is not the thing to do.
Perhaps I am wrong? Maybe wet cheeks is the face of manliness?
Freeper women, what are your thoughts on crying men?
Extreme agony is definitely a valid reason to cry!! ;-)
Passion of the Christ.
Good one! There was not a dry eye in the place and for good reason. But dark movie theater.
Agree I am woman but usually by myself OR funny, at times in prayer on the way to work. LOL
But private. Rare have I seen Dominick(Hubby)cry, very rare.
It is acceptable if they are kicked in the kilt, or if Chuck Norris just executed the perfect roundhouse on some fool.
My son had a week or so “off” between his last job at the time and leaving for USMC boot camp. After he was gone, I realized he had pulled out and watched all of the Disney movies before he went. That choked me up, similarly.
Unless it’s for the birth of a child or the death of a loved one I do not want to see tears from a man.
Period.
Agreed. Soldiers and dogs tear me up.
Sorry its me again, you reminded me.
When Chenney took Nancy Reagan’s hand at his funeral I lost it completely in my living room.
Even the boots backwards in the sturrups did not evoke tears but Dick And Nancy did it.
good night!(what its lunch to some of you! ; )
“A man who can’t cry scares me.”
That comment does not point out any shortcoming on the part of a man who won’t cry. It points out that emotional princesses are scared by men who control their emotions.
Loved ones and pets dying or in severe pain, crying allowed.
Rocky 1, crying allowed.
Everything else, whining permissible but no crying.
Any normal and masculine man may cry very, very occasionally, and never in public or as a stunt. Every human with a heart will cry sometimes.
But Stabby Beck is a raving lunatic.
Hopefully not the new Beauty and Beast. The prince falls for another guy. It’s a fag movie.
No, this was in 2003.
As a guy, I say, never in public. But -—
Sometimes, water swells in your eyes and there is nothing you can do. Just remove yourself from the public eye.
Ever been angry? Ever been jealous? Ever laughed?
Called being human.
Celebrate, the anger, laughter, ... because it makes you alive rather than some stoic, removed, disassociated, melancholic, person, no one wants to know, or, I submit, be.
I am not a crier but when I saw Old Yeller as an adult I did cry, not ashamed of it. Good dogs are a blessing and great dogs are a treasure.

But there are times to cry and times that aren't appropriate. Crying at a funeral is accepted. Crying at how tough your drill instructor has been on you, is not.
I openly cried when my mother and father died.
I cried when I had to put down my best buddy, my 12 year old Rottweiler, when he couldn't go on any more. It was a very sad moment for me.
I cry sometimes when certain hymns are being sung at church.
Sometimes I've been known to cry at the singing of the national anthem and my patriotism wells up inside me.
I cried when I finished every one of my twelve marathons (it felt so good but hurt so bad, I didn't know whether to laugh or cry...so I cried).
I've been brought to tears by an especially moving movie scene or video online, usually about a tragedy or extreme sadness.
I broke down in tears when I met the surgeon who saved my life after heart surgery and I went into cardiac arrest. He hand-massaged my heart to get it beating again and told my a year later when I ran into him at the VA, that it was a real miracle that I survived. I could hardly speak, I was so overwhelmed.
Crying is a response to natural emotions that you were born with and can't do anything about. Crying can be a release of pent-up emotions and can make you feel better afterwards. I think that not ever crying is not good for your mental and physical well-being. Keeping hurtful emotions inside without letting them out, is damaging to your body in the long run.
People cry for a reason. It's built into our bodies and brains. So I don't listen to advice from others who say I shouldn't cry. I know what is best for my well-being, not someone who is trying to foist some societal habit or norm on to me. Cry if you feel like it and forget what other people think.
That’s good to know. :)
BS psychobabble.
Yeech! Major turn-off.
