WASHINGTON The White House said on Monday that President Trump would leave in place a 2014 Obama administration order that created new workplace protections for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people.
In a statement issued in response to growing questions about whether Mr. Trump would reverse the Obama order, the White House said the president was proud to embrace gay rights.
President Trump continues to be respectful and supportive of L.G.B.T.Q. rights, just as he was throughout the election, the statement said. The president is proud to have been the first ever G.O.P. nominee to mention the L.G.B.T.Q. community in his nomination acceptance speech, pledging then to protect the community from violence and oppression.
The decision to keep the order, the statement added, was Mr. Trumps. It uses stronger language than any Republican president has before in favor of equal legal protections for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people, though that is not likely to quiet Mr. Trumps critics on the left.
The move could also anger conservatives who had hoped a Republican president would end some socially liberal policies.
While Mr. Trump remains opposed to the right of same-sex couples to marry, he has been more open to it than many in his party. But there could be another political cost to his decision: On the eve of the announcement of his pick to fill the vacant seat on the Supreme Court, it could reopen the divisive debate over same-sex marriage and transgender rights, and subject his nominee to more scrutiny over his or her views on those issues.
The Obama order banned companies that do federal work from discriminating against gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender employees. It was the first time the government explicitly protected federal workers from discrimination based on gender identity.

When and where was this?
I don't think President Trump has ever earnestly prayed about anything.

This is a new agency.”
?????
Another one for the concern trolls - he knows that squashing homosexuals is a losing battle and irrelevant to the running of the nation. He may not roll back anything, but don’t expect him to implement anything to further their agenda.
He will offend most homosexuals anyways via his stance on the so-called “basic human right” of abortion and illegal immigration, so he really doesn’t have to bother.
By lying?
Oct 30th rally in Colorado. It triggered a lot of SJWs everywhere.
I don’t have a problem with it. Why lose your job over something personal if it has no bearing whatsoever on your job performance? Unless you’re a man setting out to be a Hooters waitress, and I think that situation has already been dealt with. I don’t believe there are many federal job situations (outside of the military, but that should be competency based to begin with) where sex or sexuality make much difference anyway.
Now quotas or set asides, that’s another issue, and I know Trump wouldn’t be down with that. Just like with race, if you can do the assigned job and do it well, it should be yours, with no fear of termination due to factors unrelated to the job.
Flame away.
And Staten Island is much more politically different than Queens. I applaud Trump for not wading in this distraction issues that Cruz would’ve bogged us down in.
There is no excuse for retaining protections for transgender employees. It is a mental illness to believe or constantly act like something you are not. We don’t need crazy people working in government.
Yeah some area of Queens are like Staten Island but many more are not
Anyways, the decision won’t keep me up at night.
I already am. Those are the hours I work :)
It won’t keep me up during the day!
To all concern trolls who were formerly banned for obnoxious and disruptive behavior and then who were unfortunately unbanned: I really could care less about such minutia as LGBT whatever.
President Trump is focused on the GIGANTIC issues that threaten the very existence of our nation, and the powerful actions he is taking to save us are on a scale that none of us could have possibly imagined in our wildest dreams.
It’s not LGBT folks who will destroy our country but radical Islamic terrorism, immigration into our country of savages who hate us, a decimated military, open borders, lawless bureaucrats, stifling regulation, Federal persecution of the states and anyone else who disagrees with the Feds, Federal takeover of our medical system, suppression of domestic energy production, external economic warfare from China and the like, internal economic warfare from neocons, globalists, oligarchs, plutocrats, unelected DC swamp-dwellers, and an education system designed at all levels to turn out legions of ignorant, brainwashed social justice warriors.
And guess what? President Trump has done an amazing job so far on all of the above!!!
No. By simply reversing Obama’s unlawful EOs and standing with pro-life. and religious freedom, but leaving the marriage issue alone.
He’s giving the power back to the people, at the state level.
See my post # 57.
and sorry for missing the sarcasm on the other post regarding Jews.
was that you? :)
I apologize for being so ###ing nasty in my reply.
My New Years resolution was to not be so emotional and it’s not panning out so far :(
“By simply reversing Obama’s unlawful EOs.”
The “non-discrimination” edict was unlawful. What Obama could get from the legislature, he just concocted out of thin air.
Righty-o. He’s undoing what Obama had no right to do, re: adoptions, and at the same time restoring pro-life and religious freedom rights.
But as for who has sex with whom, shacks up, or gets married, it’s not fedgov’s business, and certainly no concern of the POTUS.
the GOP is acting like a massive cuck on transvestitism.
