Four years ago I posted about the "McLean Stevenson Effect" which you can read HERE.
Basically, McLean Stevenson starred on the hit series M*A*S*H. However, after 3 seasons in the role of Henry Blake, Stevenson got tired of being part of an ensemble and decided to leave the show and go it alone on the "McLean Stevenson Show" which was an immediate flop. His career never recovered and his name has become synonymous with really poor entertainment career decisions. You could even consider McLean Stevenson to be the patron saint of that type of poor judgement.
Okay, so my question is, will Megyn Kelly suffer from the curse of the "McLean Stevenson Effect?" To me the signs are all there. She has/had a built in audience at Fox News which she alienated by her attacks upon Donald Trump. However, if she thinks she will be attracting a new audience at NBC, she needs to be aware that the liberals still dislike her for merely being associated with Fox News. That is what I am reading on the web now. In addition, she appears to be spread very thin in her new role as morning host and a couple of other slots at NBC. Maybe she could even substitute for Brian Williams.
Her biggest flaw might be thinking it was all about her. What she doesn't get is that the Fox News audience (which she won't get at NBC) was essential for her previous ratings success.
All I know is her quick descent at NBC will be very painful. Megyn will spend the rest of her life wishing she never left her Fox News gig (along with regretting attacking Trump).
What McLean Stevenson's name means for TV entertainment, Megyn Kelly's name could become synonymous with poor TV news department decisions.
I agree. Her audience at Fox was built in. She will be an outsider everywhere else. In trying to appeal to everywhere else, however, she also became an outsider at Fox.
Who is McClean Stevenson???:)
Megyn Kelly is....errrr, wait a minute.....I see your point.
Who cares?
ME-GYN WHO ?
I think it was destroyed by the big mouth bimbo effect..?
>>I think her downfall at NBC will be quick. She won’t retain her Fox News audience and the new liberal audience will be hostile to her for merely having worked at Fox. <<
Yep. Neither fish nor fowl. She has pissed off her prior base and isn’t really special enough to get a new audience especially among the ones who hate her as you noted.
She will probably end up on a cooking show like Couric.
Remember Bryant Gumbel? His big take-off? Never occurred.
Remember Katie Couric? Her big take-off? Never occurred.
Remember all that talk of Matt Lauer? He eventually figured out that the gravy-train was strictly the Today Show, and stayed.
Sphincter was the Pennsylvania Republican turncoat who went over to the Dark Side and was immediately shunned. I believe his new friends even ran someone against him in his first re-election bid as a RAT.
HAHA! She's an ego driven "Bottle Blonde Bimbo" who will continue to blame Trump (& fox) For ALL her misfortunes past, present and future.
MeAgain will always be a hero/heroine with the liberals and Never Trumpers.
Will they be enough to keep her employed?
Also, will those followers, many with low income and credit ratings keep advertisers from booking ads during her screeching hour?
Maybe she can make a comeback on theBlaze or OANN.
Or she could join the podcast at CRTV.
Maclean Stevenson had talent.
I think it’s more like the Katie Couric effect. I don’t think the producers at NBC really understand how much this lady is disliked by both sides of the political spectrum.
Moreover, she’s mean spirited. She is not a Barbara Walters. She’s a mean interviewer.
I give her 6 months. Within 90 days, her ratings will be the lowest for that hour. I bet Greta will pull in more viewers than her.
In short, the lady is cashing in on her one and last chance opportunity to make some money.
She thinks she’ll have Trump on board to boost her ratings. He’s a dumb@ss if he goes on her show, plain and simple.
“Hello Megyn.”
Yup! Nutmegyn is pulling a topher, the actor who left That 70s Show for a movie career, believing he was all that. Love all the suicidally bad moves being made by those in the #nevertrump crowd.
Agree too, the LAST THING that the leftists who watch Big Media want to see is her, given her background before going NeverTrump.
She really made an ass of herself on Fox, and Fox has been suffering. I stopped watching them after her stunt, but now that she’s gone, I will be watching them again...and I’m sure that I’m not alone.
Fox dodged a bullet with her - it seemed that they really wanted to keep her - thankfully her greed bailed out the idiots at Fox.
