This French bulldog might be the most loved dog in New York — and his owners have $155,000 in vet receipts to prove it.
After Williamsburg couple Kate and Ben Stern adopted the caramel-coated pup named Jones in 2013, he immediately became more progeny than pet.
“We were instantly obsessed. My parents even referred to him as their grandson,” Kate said.

Very sad. Spoiled people prefer dogs over children. Toy pups are a nightmare: cute, fragile and a mess of breeding. Vets tell us to stay away from toy dogs. They look cool on the outside but are a mess on the inside and break down after three years. Just get a real dog like a boxer.
Sick. All the poor people who could have been helped for that. All the children who could have been helped for that. Just sick.
Spending that much on a dog, or the fact that they can afford to driving Uber’s?
It’s their money. They get to decide where to spend it.

I once spent 3,000 euros knowing my dog was going to die and she did.
Wish I could argue that point, but I can’t.
I’d spend a few grand on my cat if it came to it.
Kept me company during the six years I was home sick. He’s my little buddy.
But after a few grand, I’d read him his last rites.
They didn’t pay it all out of their own pocket. They have pet insurance on their dog. We have policies on our dogs too and I have often joked, with more than a hint of truth, that our dogs have better insurance coverage than we do.
My dogs have 90% coverage, no deductibles.
I should be so lucky.
