Care to elaborate on the fine print you refer to?

Indeed. Map of slave states in color vs states where proclamation was operative (in red). What about the others? Hmmmmm?

Christians abandon the Whig Party because it wouldn’t take a stand on slavery, and establish the Republican Party as an expressly abolitionist party. It is a minority party even in the North and has no chance.
6 years later they elect their candidate to the presidency.
3 years after that, the Proclamation is signed and a couple of years after that slavery is ended in the US.

And yet, a couple of years after it was signed, they were free.

Quite the opposite.
Slaves were not freed in the areas of occupation.

ROFL!!! Public screwelz teach that Lincoln “Free the Slaves!” Even after making students read that proclamation they fail to conclude it did not free the slaves nationwide.

In other words, Lincoln wasn’t interested in ending slavery, just the rebellion.

The President had no power to abolish slavery in the United States.
The President did have the power to strip indivuiduals and states engaged in unlawful rebellion of property used to support that rebellion.
He used it and then enforced it with the Army of the Tennessee.

It didn’t free the slaves in those territories.
