Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg has clarified that he is not an atheist, ending years of speculation about his religious beliefs.
The revelation came in a comment underneath a post Zuckerberg originally posted on Christmas Day, wishing his followers a merry Christmas and a happy Hanukkah.
Someone asked: But arent you atheist [sic]? prompting Zuckerberg to say he was not and that he believes religion to be very important.
Zuckerberg, who was raised Jewish, has cultivated an interest in Buddhism through his wife and met the Pope last summer, did not elaborate on his beliefs and did not explicitly say if he subscribed to a specific movement.

Wonder if the FakeBook clicks will stand up to an outside audit? Just asking?
Mark may be Jewish, but I never thought he was a practicing Christian anyway. Did you see the appearance of the Google Logo on Christmas? It was stripped of any possible reference to the birth of Christ or even any reference of it’s secular popularity. That drab, innocuous logo was safely as generic as could possibly be. It seemed to refer to absolutely nothing out of the ordinary, nothing worth celebrating.
My guess is Bing as usual had a logo that said Christmas without fear or hesitation.
Has this story been thoughly examined, and found to to a non-fake story, via the Ministry of Truth?
If you are practicing Buddhism then it wouod would be atheism, as the answers are largely dependent on oneself.
Buddhism is a philosophy or way of life.
No belief in a higher power or Supreme Being and the afterlife kind of defines atheism
Only important so he can make more money.
James 2:19 You believe that there is one God; you do well: the devils also believe, and tremble.
Schmuckerberg is nothing more than a very lucky/billionaire/fagboy who tapped into the American’s bottomless vacuity!
I don’t FB & my life is so much better because of that fact!
On the traditional holidays, Google will have an absolute cheesy-@ss image. I mean just total incoherent, gobbledygook nonsense that doesn't even relate to the holiday it's supposed to celebrate.
But when it comes to commemorating obscure leftists or someone lost in history, they'll do a full image of them complete with a link to their Wiki page.
I know that Judaism does not hold an afterlife belief. Is this due to its Old Testament absence or is their another theological context that addresses the absence of afterlife in Judaism? While the OT does not address this, neither does it deny it.
When David and Bathsheba’s son died David said, “ He can’t come to me but I can go to him.”
The guy types Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah and all he gets is blasted here.
This has to be the most pessimistic, paranoid, grumpy bunch of posters I’ve seen in a while :)
Smile once a year FReepers, it does a heart good!
Completely unrelated. Zuckerberg owns Facebook. Larry Page and Sergey Brin own Google (more accurately, Alphabet Inc, Google's parent company).
Suckerberg worships money and leftist ideology.
There were two camps: the Pharisees, who believed in an afterlife, and the Sadducees who didn’t. Jesus sided with the Pharisees [on this one issue, anyway].
Well, religion and philosophy are not the same thing.
I personally don’t care and hsve zero animus towards him but, I understand your point.
Feliz Ano Nuevo....
As far as I’m concerned, atheism is the declaration that another’s religion is definitely null and void — the atheist is essentially a mind reader. On the other hand, the agnostic is the honest non-believer who doesn’t claim to know another’s spiritual insight.
Agree 100%! Mark Zuckerberg, who is one of the most influential people in the world â how anyone feels about this is irrelevant â publicly declares that he is NOT an atheist and wishes all of us a Merry Christmas and a Happy Hanukkah, and some people nitpick. What the devil is there to complain about?! I say, Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah right back to you, Mr. Zuckerberg!
WHO CARES?
I think he worships MONEY.
