I know that Judaism does not hold an afterlife belief. Is this due to its Old Testament absence or is their another theological context that addresses the absence of afterlife in Judaism? While the OT does not address this, neither does it deny it.

There were two camps: the Pharisees, who believed in an afterlife, and the Sadducees who didn’t. Jesus sided with the Pharisees [on this one issue, anyway].
