Trump’s election stole my desire to look for a partner
WaPo ^ | December 5 2016 | Stephanie Land

In August, I went on six dates in one week. I had decided that I was ready to look for a partner. Enough of this dating unavailable men a half-decade younger than me. They’d never seriously consider a relationship with me, my two children and our needy dog. No. I wanted to find an equal. A man who wouldn’t feel the need to step in and rescue me. I didn’t need rescuing.

...two weeks later, the election happened. Once it was clear that Donald Trump would be president instead of Hillary Clinton, I felt sick to my stomach. I wanted to gather my children in bed with me and cling to them like we would if thunder and lightning were raging outside, with winds high enough that they power might go out. The world felt that precarious to me.

My oldest came out of her room the next morning to show me the money the Tooth Fairy had left her. She’d unexpectedly had to have a tooth pulled, and so bravely went through it that I said, “Just think: You’ll always remember the day you got a tooth pulled with the day we elected our first female president.”

When I told her Trump had won, she protested: “But Mom. You said Hillary was going to win.”

I’ve lost the desire to attempt the courtship phase. The future is uncertain. I am not the optimistic person I was on the morning of Nov. 8, wearing a T-shirt with “Nasty Woman” written inside a red heart. It makes me want to cry thinking of that. Of seeing my oldest in the shirt I bought her in Washington, D.C., that says “Future President.”

Since returning to the states as a single guy, I see a well developed pattern...divorced women with children are everywhere. Most of the ones I have dated or know work 2 or more jobs and are very unhappy. IMO it’s easier for them to get divorced and get a child support check than to actually deal with adversity. With all the new snowflakes coming up through the ranks it’s only going to get worse.

Men: write down this one’s name and if you meet her, run like hell. Anyone this nutty and fragile would be a nightmare waiting to happen.

I know, this is the funniest piece since that little fairy went on and on about how he had to check himself into the psych ward on election night.

What kind of man would want to live with such a whiny, twisted, liberal mind? ... A man she wants needs rescuing, by her, so she remains the ruler of her domain! She doesn’t want a partner, she wants a lacky, a ‘yes m’am’ ...

My 2nd Great Grandmother lost her husband during the civil war. Two of her sons enlisted in the Union Army and three of her sons (along with her husband) had enlisted in the Confederate Army. With all the men off to war it was just her and her daughters to farm the land. When the war was over she moved to where her three sons lived in Arkansas. I think she understood real loss.

And this woman is unable to deal with her candidate losing an election. It is fortunate she has not found a man to share her life she would end up making his life miserable.

In other words , after getting a divorce and spending the bulk of her youth playing around with toy boys 10-20 years younger than her she is now getting old enough that the toy boys don’t want to play for free.

Now she wants to be the partner of some one her own age to build a life with but it seems that life has passed her by.

Problem is, men 10-20 years younger are unobtainable to her, but women 10-20 years younger are obtainable to guys her own age or older.

Common problem for 30 and 40 something divorced women.

Rather than seen their time looking for a great second husband while they are still young, they want to play the cougar and screw around with much younger men. Great fun while it lasts, but once it’s over - they are over and increasing their Match.com age profiles for prospective partners from 10 years younger to 25 years older.

Love your picture of Strong Empowered Women, Ready to LEAD the CHARGE against ALL that is WRONG with the ENTIRE WORLD!!!!

But first, let's have a good cry, and a hug. And an emotional breakdown for 4-6 weeks, minimum. 'Cause that's what unbreakable, powerful leaders do.

Good lord, who would get so emotionally invested in a candidate that doesn't know them from a hole in the ground? And even if Hillary knew them, wouldn't care anyway?
