Donald Trump and his wife Melania are spending the Thanksgiving holiday at the business mogul's Mar-a-Lago resort. Trump bought the estate for $10million in 1985 for his then wife Ivana. The resort was developed in the 1920s for heiress Marjorie Merriweather Post. After he acquired the resort, Trump redeveloped the main house and created his own private quarters - decked out in gold.

I get the impression that he is a man who doesn’t need to rape and pillage the country to build a fortune off the backs of its citizens like certain other politicians.
Just think of the jobs that were created in the remodeling of that place.
Not my style. Living around all that would drive me buggy.
Hey U.K., jealous much?
It definitely has the Versailles thing going on instead of Shabby Chic. But, you know, it’s also a lot of fun. I’d love to have the money to stay there!
This one gets the feeling all the nevertrumpers came out this morning.
You all have a nice Thanksgiving.
Big Trump fan. Not a fan of his interior design but each to his own.
“Yet, when he arrived, wealthy locals did not welcome the brash businessman.
He faced a court battle over an 80ft flagpole at the resort which held a massive American flag. Trump’s foundation was ordered to pay $100,000 to veteran charities after installing the pole in 2006 without appropriate permission.”

Fly the flag first and deal with consequences later.
Love it.
Interesting that it was given to the government to be used as a resort for the presidents and heads of state.
She indeed got her wishes fulfilled.
God works in mysterious ways.
“Just think of the jobs that were created in the remodeling of that place.”
All the contractors, artisans and skill labor that benefitted from Trumps investment.
We are in a war with the left.
They ignore the obvious and lie to avoid “Normalizing” Trump. They must keep him controversial, a “fascist” the definition of which they do not understand.
Going off topic for a second to explore this fascist claim.
A fascist is against aggressive individualism. Their solution is to subject the individual to the interests of the community.
Trump, and the Republicans generally, and indeed a great swath of American society have celebrated individualism to the absolute total extreme. Trumps idea and the Republican plan is to lift the burden of regulation from businesses.
Out of this world gorgeous. In good taste.
And yes her wishes are gloriously fulfilled!
That was what I gathered from the whole story. An 80’ American flag post.
What tradesman wouldn’t have been proud of this work? Which one never took a picture and include it in his portfolio of work of which he’s proud?
The article condemns it as “garish” and “gaudy” and all that, but it most certainly upped the craftsmanship and repertoire of all the contractors involved.
Most recently, it's franchising the Trump name. He's not committed to one business model but allows the market to dictate what his focus is. That's probably while he's still standing after 40 years.
Video of DJT playing golf, please!
I understand that he has a right-good swing and a teens-to-lower 20’s handicap.
Living in a large log home in heavy hardwood forest that my sons and I built with our own hands, I could never be comfortable in such opulence.......my wife, 8 kids and I don’t have a formal molecule in our bodies.
I do have expensive tastes in any kind of machinery, from cars, motorcycles and tractors to weapons - but not to impress anyone (I could not care less about what others think). I just really appreciate fine machinery that works exceptionally well.
So I do have my weaknesses.
But such opulence seems to be Trump’s nature - and I don’t fault him for that - as long as he is generous with sharing his wealth with those less fortunate than himself - which I understand he indeed does......
Why isn’t that plane casting a shadow?
The whole flag story was that there was a flag pole height restriction. So he trucked in enormous amounts of fill and raised the ground to a level that allows the flag to fly at the desired height.
