The courts should have DENIED BAIL for terrorist Ahmad Khan Rahami! The fact that they open the door to his release if he were to somehow find someone to post his bail IS AN OUTRAGE! If ever there were a 'flight risk' or someone likely to continue his war on Americans, Rahami is that person.
Why did the court set a bail amount for this POS rather than DENY HIM BAIL? Did political correctness cause this? Can someone explain please?
Exactly.
My question who made his bail?
These losers don’t usually have half a million dollars just sitting around.
Bail is a right and it’s usually based on the crime. The “local” crimes are attempted murder. He hasn’t been charged with Federal crimes yet. Those are the ones that have teeth.
He isn’t getting out of jail any time soon.
Maybe to see who or what org. will step forward to post that bail.
He was nooked and charged with attempted murde of a policeman. This was a state charge. The idea is to hold him till the Feebs build a federal case of terrorism by ecplosive device. this is no big deal to get rattled over.
That’s right. Who would bother bailing the guy out, if it simply means he is turned over to the Feds and taken into custody again?
With his international connections this guy is a serious flight risk, for example.
Denying bail creates a kerfuffle, people feel a person’s rights are being denied. Setting a really high bail functionally denies bail without actually denying bail. Let’s face it, no bondsman is putting 4.5 million buck. And if somebody actually puts down the whole amount we now have a terrorist cell to investigate.
Holder Obama dream come true. Terrorists tried in civilian courts and bail is set.
the hell with bail. he should have gotten a “freddy gray” ambulance ride.
In this case, the mutant wasn't just captured in the U.S. He's also a U.S. citizen.
The only terrorists who could be subject to something other than U.S. criminal prosecution (assuming they are captured alive) are foreign nationals captured outside the jurisdiction of the U.S.
The mechanism is called war powers. If a US citizen fights against the US or is a traitor then they can bull doze the for all I care. You forfeit your tights when you attack the country.
rights (and tights) LOL
No Surprise. He isn’t charged with a capital crime or terrorism yet.
$5.2m is plenty plus he has travel restrictions and has probably given up his passport.
Trust me, he is not going to breathe free again.
Just my search came up with this page:
http://www.judiciary.state.nj.us/rules/r7-4.html
(a) Persons Entitled; Criteria. Every defendant shall have a right to bail before conviction on such terms as, in the judgment of the court, will insure the defendant’s presence when required, having regard for the defendant’s background, residence, employment and family status and, particularly, the general policy against unnecessary sureties and detention. In its discretion, the court may order defendant’s release on defendant’s own recognizance and may impose terms or conditions appropriate to such release.
You might have a point if he was being charged with treason and sedition, but he’s not. Under U.S. law, he’s treated just like any other mutant who plants bombs and shoots at the police.
I can easily see a presidential pardon in the future a few decades down the road -- in exchange for a major contribution to the Clinton Foundation.
Bail should have been $1.4 billion
