There's increasing evidence to show that trees are able to communicate with each other. More than that, trees can learn.
The main reason humans cannot perceive how clever and complex they are is because we exist in such short time scales by comparison. There's a tree in Sweden for instance, a spruce, that is more than 9,500 years old. That's 115 times longer than the average human lifespan.

A tree that looks at God all day, And lifts her leafy arms to pray;
Upon whose bosom snow has lain; Who intimately lives with rain.
Poems are made by fools like me, But only God can make a tree.
“Do trees have brains and talk to each other?........”
They have fairies livin’ in ‘em.
Oh.. Wonderful.
Billions of newly registered Democrat voters.

Well, I did get a reaction from a friend of mine for saying that trees were VIOLENT. Growing tall is an act of violence, in that it subjugates the shorter vegetation, you see. Plain fact. No mind or intention involved. He wasn’t buying, choosing to see the tallness of the trees in purely circumstantial terms. Nevertheless, it is a a selected trait.
Call and they’ll come to you
Covered with dew
The vegetable people responding to you
Rutabaga, rutabaga, rutabaga...
It’s so ******’ great to be alive, boys and girls!
Oh crap. Now the libs will start Wooden Lives Matter and try to outlaw the use of lumber.
Trees need to check their privilege
Some guy called into the Garden Line on the radio last Sunday morning. Said he had some plants in his yard that he wanted to take out and wanted to know if there was a humane way to remove them. Garden Line host said, “You are kidding”. Caller repeated question again. Host said “Yes, yank them out by their roots and throw them in your compost pile”. Caller clicked out. Host echoed my opinion that it was a very strange call and caller.
Why is a vegetable something to hide?
A spruce tree was admiring my guitar today and,
it told me that it would like to be one.
That’s why I am not a vegetarian. I kill my meat before eating it. The thought of biting into a tomato and hearing it scream as I chomp down on it is too hard to take.
Vegetarians are violent, murderous thugs.
Underground, it’s chemical warfare. Trees battle each other for root space with secretions that keep one another at bay, and keep intruders from gaining any foothold in their territory.
Grapes scream too. Well, actually they just let out a little wine...
