Why should the media try to diminish certain people’s contributions in order to promote others’. There are enough achievements to go around! But the media just loves to divide. Just like Democrats.

Charleston SC. also has one opening in the next couple of years. I hear that there are plenty of others in the works. I would rather have a few that I might want to go to rather than one in almost every city diluting the subject that they want to showcase. I’m OK with civil rights exhibits but if they harp on the white guilt/modern social justice manure I’ll pass.
Imagine all of the school classes that will be forced to go to those museums on field trips.

I agree about the Museum of the Native American, but there are, in fact, no "dead white men's" muesums on the Mall. Natural History? History and Technology? The National Gallery of Art? The East Wing? The Hirschorn (a museum to execrable art, to be sure, but ecumenical as to race, color, and creed)? The Freer Gallery? Air and Space?
The Smithsonian, in fact, already had a National Museum of African Art, which is exactly one more ethnic museum than the white folks have. The Freer houses Asian collections, and very good collections at that; no one considers it an ethnic museum, though in a way it is. The Indians now have an ethnic museum. I suppose next we'll have to have an Hispanic Museum. But there will still be no "white" museum, unless you assume that high culture, science and technology, and natural history are "white," which of course they aren't.
Right. Wrong.
Ah! The point is that not all achievements are equal. And they must be made so.
