It's a moment Johnnie Flores won't soon forget.
"I looked down and I saw sparks flying out of my pocket," the 22-year-old from Arlington said. "It felt like an explosion in my hand."
The scars on her body keep the memory fresh.
"This one actually pushed the skin back," she said as she showed her wounds. "This is the skin graft here."
Flores said she was hospitalized in June with severe burns after a spare lithium ion battery for her e-cigarette exploded in her pocket.

Since when is a store responsible for a manufacturer of the products they sell?
Everybody suing everybody. May be the store should sue the manufacturer for the suit that the customer is suing it instead of suing the manufacturer.
The way to eliminate lawsuits — have punitive damages — 25x — against the plaintiff, including the lawyers, losing the lawsuit. And triple the damages if the lawsuit is dismissed outright. That should end all frivolous lawsuits. And bankrupt trial lawyers.
I think it sellers should be liable for selling deadly products - made in China or not.
She might as well sue the dog catcher while she’s at it. What an ultra maroon.
She should sue the clothing manufacturer for not containing the sparks in the pocket.
Can you sue Craftsmen if you smash your finger with a hammer they made? What happened here, in all probability, is that she had an unregulated device (meaning no cut off circuit) and the device trigged in the pocket and just kept going. Li-Ion batteries are known for thermal runaway, it has happened with some flashlights, weapon lights, laptops, and electric “hoverboards” (which don’t hover, but whatever).
Anyway you slice it, the store isn’t at fault. Doubt it’s the device manufacturer either. This is most likely plain negligence on the consumers part. The sad part is how much it’s going to cost the shop to prove it.
Need? Don’t think I need to be told what I “need” by pretty much anyone. For that matter I don’t need to be told what is “dignified” either. You do yours and I’ll do mine.
It’s also possible that the device had been deliberately modified. Some people tamper with their devices by disabling the regulators, which enables them to blow bigger vapor clouds for the purpose of showing off.
“Gimme a little natural menthol and I’m good.”
I keep the same kind of juice in the vape stick on my desk.
I also only buy American, and have never had a single malfunction.
Since forever, more or less. They aren't "responsible for the manufacturer," they are at risk of liability for SELLING. The cure, and this is well know, is to have an indemnification agreement with the manufacturer. No agreement, no shelf space.
Wait.
Is she talking about her vape equipment or her Galaxy 7 phone??
I’ll attest to e-cigs helping to break the tobacco habit. When my wife and I first started using them, I noticed that I went from two packs a day, to less than a pack a day in no time. Funny thing is, I barely even noticed.
I haven’t quit my tobacco. I didn’t start with e-cigs for that, but I definitely lowered my overall consumption of tobacco by using them. For me, it’s an indoor/outdoor thing. We don’t light up in the house anymore, so e-cigs are the rule.
Juice can be pretty absurdly priced that is for sure. ItcVapes has good juice at very good prices and making it yourself would save even more than that. That is until the fed bans that too, or finds some way to tax it to death.
>until the fed bans that too
The feds only do what the lower Bell Curve allows and votes for. Morons ruin both parties.

Did she have a cap on the connection end of the spare battery?
When I remove the cartridge from the battery on mine, the battery's terminals are exposed. They could possibly have been shorted out by some sort of metallic object in her pocket.
