The Lady Chablis, the transgender performer who became an unlikely celebrity for her role in the 1994 best-seller "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil," died Thursday in Savannah. She was 59. Chablis' sister, Cynthia Ponder, confirmed she died at Candler Hospital. A close friend, Cale Hall, said Chablisdied from pneumonia and had been in the hospital for the past month. A modern, nonfiction take on Southern Gothic storytelling, author John Berendt's "Midnight" thrust Savannah into the pop-culture spotlight. And the sassy, blunt-spoken Chablis rode the book's popularity to a level of fame that was rare for transgender performers at the time. "The legacy that she wanted to leave was one of 'believe in who you are and never let the world change who you are,'" Ponder said. "Love yourself first and respect yourself first and others will love and respect you." Chablis insisted on playing herself in the 1997 "Midnight" movie directed by Clint Eastwood. That same year she published an autobiography, "Hiding My Candy." Berendt's book had no shortage of quirky, true-life characters — a voodoo priestess, a man who tied live flies to his lapels and a piano player with an encyclopedic command of 6,000 songs. Chablis was easily the most popular, Berendt said Thursday.

Some sinners have entered into the status of ‘reprobate’ - they have told God ‘No’ so many times that they have hardened their hearts against any form of the gospel. Now while anyone with a desire can come to Jesus Christ and be saved - but even ‘straight’ people have the capacity to harden their hearts.
The end for both is the same, an eternity of separation from the love of God and His light.
Another early death to this unhealthy lifestyle.
It’s a shame these talented people commit themselves to an early death.
Those who care about them tell them their lifestyle is killing them.

Assuming he had his penis removed, and assuming he accepted Jesus as his Lord and savior, he will be in Heaven with his penis restored but now at peace with being a man.

Jesus, in the woman taken in adultery story, preserved in the Textus Receptus, tells the entire crowd “he who is without sin, let him cast the first stone.” He was addressing the fact that they were protecting at least one of the adulterers, also a violation of the law of Moses, and a sin of omission on their part.
As for Chablis, or any of us, sin kills. Some sin kills something quickly and in a terrible, abominable manner.
We can't pretend it isn't sin (harm), and we should be honest about it, but "if we say we have no sin we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us."

It’s one of my favorite movies too. I’ve watched it a thousand times. I love stories set in the South and especially those based on true life. RIP Lady.....

And this is done by supposed conservatives on a supposedly conservative web forum. We're supposedly interested in the truth here. And the truth is that this man was no lady. He was mentally deranged, and went through life with people pandering to his delusions. Proper respect for the truth, and for him, demands that we at least not participate in the sick charade of calling him a woman.

There is a balance point between the two, for Jesus did call them Children of Satan, and John did, too in 1 John 3: "In this the children of God and the children of the devil are manifest: Whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is he who does not love his brother."

My way of balancing it is to say that all of us originate from God, but some of us have chosen Satan's army.
Living proof that propaganda works. I once was foolish enough the Christians in America would never accept the Gay agenda because it requires the Bible to be a if not a lie at least a fib, to accept it.
