A revolutionary drug that could stop people from ever developing Alzheimers disease has been unveiled by scientists.
Trials have produced unprecedented results and the medicine has been hailed as a potential game-changer in the fight against the cruel disease.
In future, healthy pensioners could be prescribed the drug to ward off dementia, in much the same way as statins are given today to those at risk of heart attacks.
One British expert described the drug, which is about to be tested in hospitals around the UK, as the best yet, others called it ingenious work with tantalising results. And a US doctor hailed it as the best news in his 25-year career.
Existing drugs are of limited benefit and despite billions of pounds being spent on research, no new medicines have hit the market in more than a decade.
While current therapies ease the symptoms, aducanumab tackles the underlying damage in the brain, raising hopes it will be the first to alter the course of the disease.

Yes it is but realize that there are lots of causes of dementia other than Alzheimers.
Next up, make the world a much better place and finally cure the most cruel mental disorder of all: liberalism.
Interesting reply.
To add to your theory people will Alzheimer’s pay dearly for the drug.
But, will they pay as much for this drug as they would a sex enhancement drug? Sometimes it’s best not to remember who you were with last. Or better yet, be with your wife of 50 years, not knowing who she is, and get the trill of being with someone new.
“I wish it’s true but no drug is ever that good.”
I can already imagine class action lawsuites over the side effects.
Yes, this discussion is about Alzheimer's and how the disease creates and deals with confusion
So, yeah , you are on the right thread , .. sorta !
yes lost my sweet old mama to it it was brutal
My mother has been afflicted with this evil disease and I would gladly pay whatever was necessary to stop the disease in its tracks.
Aducanumab
Sounds more like a test for Alzheimer’s. If you can pronounce this, and remember it 5 minutes later, you don’t need it.
Might be better backwards though. Bamunacuda has a better flow to it.
Makes perfect sense. Diabetes is the one I’m waiting for (specifically Type 1). So many studies have come out in the last decade with introducing new islet cells that had amazing success, but they never went further. I assume it is for this reason that pharmaceutical groups block the progress to keep their overpriced garbage rolling through.
I think it is in test now here. The name sounds familiar. Unfortunately the trial Mrs. Dad is in is for a different drug and though it has had some positive affects the disease is still progressing. Her trial will end in October and if she is on placebo I might be able to get her into this one.
I will pray you can.
It helps but it doesn’t solve the problem of people making more cholesterol(via genetics) than they may take in, even with their diets strictly controlled. They don’t reduce damage already done though they help reduce future deposits of fatty products. Inflammation of affected vasculature in the heart is a great danger and seems to be increasingly implicated in heart attacks as well.
SIDE EFFECTS/ LIABILITY :
The drug also increased the risk of stroke and potentially dangerous fluid shifts in the brain,
however, forcing a balancing act between its effectiveness and patients ability to tolerate a high-enough dose.
Researchers were able to catch early signs of the side effect, known as amyloid-related imaging abnormalities (ARIA),
through MRI brain scans, Salloway says, and no one in the trial suffered irreversible harm."

Thank you! Prayers are always welcome.
Acducanumab!(and Tyler, too!)(yeah okay...I don’t know why I paraphrased an old election slogan...it must be my al’s “heimers” acting up. It just seemed funny at the time!)
Has Amy Loyd heard about this?
If it fixes brain damage, it could be the cure for democrats and rino’s alike!!!
Well, that's just too bad.
