Hot Bath Beats Cycling for Lowering Blood Sugar Levels for Type 2 Diabetics

A hot bath could be better than cycling at lowering blood sugar levels for type 2 diabetics, a study suggests.

Dr Steve Faulkner of Loughborough University investigated whether there were any alternatives to exercise which could assist people in maintaining the condition.

He found that a soak in the tub reduces peak blood sugar levels by 10 per cent more than an hour cycling, and increases energy expenditure levels by 80 per cent burning 126 calories per hour.

Dr Faulkner, who is a Post-Doctoral Research Associate for the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Leicester-Loughborough Diet, Lifestyle and Physical Activity Biomedical Research Unit (BRU), said: “We discovered the participants who bathed had, on average, 10 per cent lower peak glucose levels in comparison to the exercise, which was completely unexpected.

Cinnamon can lower blood sugar levels without getting wet.
The researchers found that cinnamon cut cholesterol by about 18% and blood sugar levels by 24%

Cinnamon, fenugreek, turmeric, ginger. They all either lower blood sugar or help insulin work more efficiently.

Hot baths are nice, but cycling puts you "out there". I love to hit the road on my Long Haul Trucker, with food and drink loaded on the rear rack, and just GO. Cycling makes you feel like a kid again (can't speak for the spandex crowd, who seem pretty joyless to me...thou they look cool).

Is water special or could you get the same results in a hot room? Or, let’s increase global warming! No type 2 diabetes and increased weight loss.

Also, you probably won’t get hit by a truck while you’re in the bathtub.

Wow!

Yeah. But that's only if you want to treat the actual cause of the disease, not simply the symptoms. Type II diabetes, in most cases, can be completely reversed by diet. But where's the profit in that for the pharmaceutical companies?

((full disclosure here. My wife and I are longtime LCHFers))

Makes me literally sick seeing this type BS. Type 2 is a preventable life style disease. Lost my dad at 70 because he treated symptoms instead of the disease. Now a brother is doing the same thing. Last time I saw him I watched his wife, the nurse, bring him a piece of pie. WTF. Might as well bring him a nice plate of Decon.

The people you expect to know better are often the worse indoctrinated.

You are right, of course. It would help if we changed the name of this disease from "diabetes" to "carbohydrate intolerance."

And, by the way, there is an excellent web site that deals with these very issues. I recommend it highly:

Biking has many benefits.
You have high mobility to see the country.
You can bond with your 15 year old son.
You work up a relaxing sweat.
You raise heart rate.
You get solid leg muscles.
You wake up the next morning lean and hungry.

Plus, keep in mind, bathtubs kill many times more people than guns.

I added 2 Cinnamon tabs to my list of natural stuff, it kinda doesn’t like my stomach, but not so bad I’d stop it. Glad to hear it also helps with Cholesterol...will have to get hubby some, I want him off the drugs they are making him shake like Parkinson’s and his libido is in the trash can from them along with short term memory.

IDIOT Primary said my glucose was to high for the past 9 months. Wrote a real strong diabetes drug, no meter, no A1C1 or Ketone testing. Had to force her to give me a meter with 1 lousy test strip a day. Eldest son is Type 2, and he test 4 times a day. Works 12-14 hrs a day. DUH when you take 1000 MG Vit C that is like drinking a lg glass of orange juice or eating or a high sugar candy bar. And 120 glucose is not that high!

ENDO is gonna be PO’D when I see him Tuesday..I’m Hypothyroid, and would never use a Primary to treat it. Never filled her script either. Just the meter and ran the test every morning sans the Vit C, rarely see over a 100 in the last 3 months. When I do, it was Pizza supper the night before with a beer.

Haven’t tried Fenugreek, but have been on Turmeric twice a day for a year for joint pain not seen much reduction in that. Ginger ROOT for nausea, man it works better than the crap the Primary gave me and no side effects.
