I wondered this morning why there aren’t any recent polls from Florida and Ohio and this afternoon I’m getting not one but two from each for my trouble. One will be published by NBC/WSJ at 5 p.m. ET (about an hour from now as I write this). The other is this new one from Quinnipiac, which has some reassuring numbers for Trumpers after a tough 10 days. The good news: He’s still in the thick of it in Florida and Ohio, down just two points in the latter in a four-way race and dead even in the former. Those are two of the three states he needs to have a shot at 270 electoral votes this fall. He’s right there.

1) Don’t buy the notion that Trump “has” to win PA. Quite the contrary, if he wins PA he will also have already won VA and OH. PA will be the closest of the three.
2) CO is weird this year because of pot. I think there is a strong hippie vote there that is turning this not so much Dem as Libertarian. Watch for Johnson to do his best here.

I agree about PA. If Trump wins PA, it’s a sweep across the board with almost all the battleground States falling his way, and maybe a few surprises as well.
PA is a nice prize, but only after he has nailed down the 270. If he relies on PA to push him over the top, he might as well have Lucy holding the football.
My county has enough votes to offset West Palm ...NO OPEN OFFICES YET...long huge county that needs 3 offices and no supplies except leftovers from Primary...no excuse except Republican Party were Never Trump and are dragging their feet and half hearted support...planning a central office now open 3 days a week 10-1 What a crock!
IMHO, while PA would guarantee him victory, it’s not critical that he win it. Don’t be fooled by this false narrative.
Campaign just glides here after the absentee ballots go out in October...better advertise before they mail them! Oldsters vote the day they are received!

I’ve got a feeling that Trump and the Johnson will be sharing the Bernies.
The only time I was ever polled it was by Quinnipiac. It was during primary season and my candidate was Fred Thompson, so I guess it was about 8 years ago. They called me at home on my landline and the gentleman was very professional. He did not simply ask me if I was likely to vote; he also asked about my voting history, i.e., whether I voted in the last several primaries, presidential elections and midterm elections. Clearly, he was sizing me up to see if I truly was likely to vote in the upcoming primary election. I mention this because we are always quick to distinguish between polls of registered voters and likely voters (and rightly so). However, we don’t pay much attention to how “likely voters” are identified. I have no doubt that many, many folks who have not voted in years are going to come out for Trump and against the establishment. Are they adequately represented in polls of likely voters? I don’t know.
The Bernie kids in my general neighborhood haven't taken down their yard signs and are still wearing their buttons.
Once the debates begin and Trump starts advertising, expect his numbers to increase significantly (assuming honest polling).
