Cops in Florida shot and wounded an African-American behavioral therapist lying in the street with his hands raised next to a troubled autistic man whom he was trying to help, according to the victims account and a disturbing video of the incident.
Charles Kinsey can be seen and heard pleading with the North Miami officers that their weapons were not necessary, and that the autistic man was carrying only a toy truck, according to WSVN-TV.
When I went to the ground, Im going to the ground just like this here with my hands up, Kinsey told the station from his hospital bed, where he was recovering from a wound to his leg.
Im telling them again, Sir, there is no need for firearms. Im unarmed, hes an autistic guy. He got a toy truck in his hand.

I saw the video. By all appearances, this does appear as if the cops were in the wrong. There seems to be absolutely NO reason for shooting this man.
He will get paid.
Cop will be disciplined.
Move on.
Cops aren’t perfect. Mistakes happen.
250,000 people a year die from medical malpractice. There’s no vast conspiracy involved. It’s just people screw up.
You good cops KNOW who the BAD cops in your organizations are. Putting aside the growing numbers of muslim inspired killings, if you’re content with the thought that these bad cops the TRIGGER HAPPY cowboys will continue to overstep and abuse their authority and citizens, driving unstable and aggrieved the citizens surrounding and outnumbering you to the sorts of killings of other GOOD COPS now on the increase, then do nothing.
If, however, you want to increase the odds that you will go home to the wife and kids at the end of your shift, you’d better do all you can to get the cowboys out of your department and lobby very hard to see that the White Shirts in command see that he NEVER works as a LEO anywhere again.
This is not good. Cops are on edge, and I’m saying this as the wife of a fire investigator and the mother of an autistic son.
Someone who worked with this cop must have known he was an idiot and should have said something before now because we all know this won’t end well for everyone.
Stupid stupid stupid. This one cop just undid all that happened before. 0bammy and Hillary and the left wing press will have a field day with this.
Cops arent perfect. Mistakes happen.

That was a terrible mistake. The officer could have easily taken the life of an innocent man. This cop should be fired at a minimum.
The victim will sue for millions but the question is; is it worth taking a bullet in the leg from a cop for several million dollars? What kind of cop shoots a guy in the leg anyway?
Let’s see how this plays out.
If this is legitimately a wrongful shooting, normally there would be a firestorm.
Maybe the Black Lives Matter folks are in retreat after their excesses and bad PR. Maybe this will rattle them, that maybe cops are getting trigger happy, and it is not so safe to be in their face as it was.
Their are bad cops and their are good cops who make a mistake or make bad decisions. Both deserve appropriate punishment. BLM makes it sound like the mistreatment of blacks by cops is routine. It is not.
The biggest problem the police have caused is when they try to cover up for the few bad or mistaken police behind the blue wall of silence, rather than openly handling bad or mistaken cops promptly. In this way, cops have brought scrutiny and mistrust on themselves. If they would quit civering up for the few bad apples and air their laundry publicly, people would trustvpolice a lot more.
When you shoot and kill an unarmed man in a Home Depot and then refuse to show the videotape of what happened and then clear the cop of all wrong-doing in secrecy, that is going to lead to mistrust and cynicism of police.
Yes. I would fire him.
I would be reluctant to put a police officer in jail unless an extreme circumstance as any jail time = death penalty. Or worse.
I so agree with your comment.
“is it worth taking a bullet in the leg from a cop for several million dollars?”
Considering a nick to your femoral artery would kill you before an ambulance could get there, I don’t think it’s a good bet.
“What kind of cop shoots a guy in the leg anyway?”
One that hasn’t had enough range time.
Thank God it was not a fatal shot.
That cops department needs to throw the book at him immediately to defuse this situation before the race hustlers can exploit it. I dont care if it was just poor muzzle discipline and stupidly not keeping his finger off the trigger. It is even worse if he was “on target, on trigger” when nobody was showing a weapon or hostile behavior.
Looks like a cop just couldn’t handle the heat. I would permanently remove him from the kitcphen. Put him behind a desk and no gun.
This just gets worse and worse. According to the police, the cop may have been aiming at the autistic man.

The therapist TOLD them over and over that the man had a toy truck and not a gun. But the man wasn’t complying. (He wasn’t capable of understanding)
So if you don’t comply, they can just shoot you - regardless of the situation, I suppose.
The way you stop this is by making it mandatory that any payouts come from the police pension fund.
As it stands now, it is we the taxpayers that end up footing the bill.
If the bill goes directly against the retirement of all police officers, you will see a quick self correction that will never be accomplished by committees or review boards.
ANY organization is only as good as the worst behavior it tolerates. One bad apple does spoil the whole bunch if the people responsible for removing it fail to do so.
Most of them are probably in the red already anyway.
