It goes without saying that Senator Jeff Sessions is popular with a huge number of Americans. It is also true that Joni Ernst, a war veteran, is a rising star in Republican ranks. Either would make wonderful Vice Presidents for different reasons.
However, the trade-off is unacceptable. In the case of Ernst, she is sitting as senator in Iowa, at best a purple state. There is absolutely no guarantee that her seat would be won by a Republican.
Why is that so crucial? The Republican majority in the Senate is only 4 senators. And this year the Republicans have 24 senator seats up for grabs while the Democrats have only 10. Why make that 25 and in a state where holding the seat is unlikely?
The same argument can be applied to Tennessee's Bob Corker to some degree. It applies less so to Jeff Sessions. Alabama would likely elect a conservative.
However, both Sessions and Corker are senior senators. Each would be in line to chair powerful committees in the next congress. In the case of Sessions, the most America-first senator now sitting, a President Trump would want his expertise in charge of a recalcitrant group of establishmentarian republicans who yearn to open our borders to floods of cheap labor regardless of terroristic threats. It is even possible that a Senator Sessions could become Senate Majority Leader. That is a far more important position than VP in the day to day running of the U.S. government.
So, Donald Trump should be encouraged to steer clear of any senatorial running mate in this 2016 election. The price is too steep. Lose the Senate, and everything will grind to a standstill.
There will be zero hope of appointing a conservative replacement for Justice Scalia, of controlling illegal immigration, of fixing our military, or of changing our trade pacts. Losing the Senate will put everything on the back burner.
Leni
Christie - got the weight band surgery and is still obese - lack of commitment and drive?, rino, gas taxes, his poll numbers are at the lower end now in NJ.
Palin - screeches, women have Palin envy.
Rand Paul - too short, small man.
Ernst - that face and hair, no good accomplishments in the Senate.
Sessions - same age as Trump, better as a Senator.
Gingrich - older than Trump, obese, “baggage”.
Cruz - another Senator, possibly lied about liking Trump.
Corker - name speaks for itself.
She’s only 2 years into it, and her background was military.
Cruz on the other hand was a barn burner. He was writing legislation before he showed up, iirc.
BREAKING: #Huckabees Willie Horton Problem: He Let Lots of Murderers, Criminals Out

Politicians make the criminal class seem like pikers.
“Sayeth the raven: Never more.”
“Alan West for VP, or, at least, Defence Secretary.”
Alan West dissed Trump for the “star” nonsense. It will not be him.
The next regularly-scheduled election for statewide office in Iowa is Gov. in 2018. Iowa has such as election every even-numbered year.
Since the senate & house haven’t balanced the budget in how many years why wou any of them be a good pick?’ A Govenor has to bring forth a budget better choice.
Someone Ive posted about lately that I would love Mr. Trump to consider is Representative Jim Jordan. Hes a fiscal conservative, from OH, went to school there and in WI (NCAA wrestling champ), proposed a balanced budget, against illegal immigration, for healthcare reform, IIRC his name was being tossed around as a replacement for Boehner, articulate, nice-looking, young.
Heres his statement from yesterday:
Despite statements 2 contrary, Clinton sent/received Top Secret info through her unclassified email server - yet FBI sees no case. Travesty.
Heres his website, you need to scroll down to see his statements on various issues:

Then how come Obama has neither and is unstoppable?
I am not certain the VP has no power in the Senate, has one ever asserted their presidency of the Senate or just by custom he only reports for tie votes.
Maybe there is something wrong with your hearing or maybe you prefer this kind of voice.
I suspect LBJ did or tried.
But what did he accomplish as VP?
The most the VP could have other than that tiebreaking vote is the power to lobby. But hell, EVERY former Senator has that.
Naa, I think someone like Pence would be a good choice. Good optics, Executive experience, Legislative experience, Respected enough on the hill to be a real asset to a president with zero government experience.
If Blackburn is a fighter, then why isn’t she out there now fighting for Trump?
If Corker were an actual Republican, that might be an issue for me, but . . .
The optics of two old men running on the GOP ticket are horrible, and will be viewed as trying to get in the way of America electing its first woman President.
I do and I’m from Ohio. She looks like Shelley Fabare in her “Coach” days.
Moreover, she’s a huge pro-life and pro-family voice in the House.
Truth be told....Corker/Iran.
