Donald Trump, according to a new report, has accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior.
No, you didn't accidentally click on The Onion. That's a factual statement, according to a well-respected evangelical faith leader.
Dr. James Dobson, who was among the more than 900 evangelical faith leaders who met with the Republican presidential nominee-in-waiting in New York City, says it happened fairly recently. He also said he knew who led the businessman to Christ.
"I don't know when it was, but it has not been long," Dobson told Godfactor's Michael Anthony in an exclusive interview. "I believe he really made a commitment, but he's a baby Christian. We all need to be praying for him, especially if there's a possibility of him being our next chief executive officer."

I call myself a ‘christian’ now because I want to be humble about matters and not ‘preach it’ to people.
I am like the Apostle Paul, a great hypocrite.
I used to preach and talk and tell other folks the right things to do, while I did the wrong things, living the life of a drunk.
I need to take the right actions now and that’s the religion that works, the faith of my actions, not my words.
I am a bit uncomfortable with the James Dobson brand of Christianity now, but not angry with him for his beliefs.
People like him face persecution if the corporatist elites and their ‘rigged system’ wins with Hillary Clinton in November.
Heck, I will too in the end for just believing in things they oppose.
The elites oppose all constitutional rights that stand in their way from freedom of speech and religion to the right to keep and bear arms, private property and the list goes on........
I am seeking to hire a president. I already have a pastor.
Yeah. Organized religion is surely to blame. Good point.

I don’t get this. Trump has been a Presbytarian all his life. He’s been a Christian all his life. That’s a CHRISTian. He accepted Christ years and years ago. He could have rejected Christianity and his religion at any point in his life and never did. I cry foul on what Dobson did here.
Oops, Presbyterian. Typo.
Don’t ask me what Dobson is talking about. I think at least in some ways he has been acting like a Christian would act for decades.

“Its between Trump and God.”
Thank you.
I don’t really care what Trump’s religious beliefs are as long as he guarantees religious freedom.
Dobson should keep his trap SHUT...Mr. Trump doesn't need crap like this from self-serving headline-seekers....no matter how good the intentions are. Trump is a long time Christian and didn't "just recently" accept Christ.
The Donald can do his OWN talking if he wants to discuss his faith.
Leni
And I say that as a Hindu.
If a person believes in God (and I leave mozlems out of this discussion) and tries their best to follow the precepts including the golden rule which is in every religion, and genuinely respects others, that’s good enough for me.
Will he over time start to make decisions with the Lord in mind, and say so, talking about how his faith influenced his decisions?
- - - -
Why do you think he has to “say so”? Please read Judges 13-16 and then tell us where Samson makes decisions with the Lord in mind, and says so, talking about how his faith influenced his decisions.
The nation that has killed 60 million babies is under judgement from YHWH. He is done with the United States of America.
We have been under judgement ever since the 1962 School Prayer ruling. The first official Muslim Brotherhood front organization founded in the U.S. was the Muslim Students Association (MSA), established on the Urbana-Champaign campus of the University of Illinois in 1964. The Muslim Brotherhood is a type of the Assyrian that YHWH used to bring judgement on the 10 tribes that made up Israel. Al Qaeda is an off-shoot of the Muslim Brotherhood. Their 9/11 attack was a perfect fulfillment of Isaiah 9:8-13.
Since the 1973 Roe v. Wade things have really gotten worse. Since then we have never won a war, before then we never lost one. With Obama we finally got Isaiah 3:4-5 “I will give children to be their princes, and babes shall rule over them. The people will be oppressed, everyone by another and every one by his neighbor; The child will be insolent toward the elder and the base to the honorable.”
All this moral decay was codified by Judges, just as the moral decay in Sodom and Gomorrah was, according to the Jewish sages, was codified by Judges. That puts us as “in the days of Lot” (Luke 17:28-37). The “great sign in the heavens” from Revelation 12:1-2 actually occurs on September 23-24, 2017. As for Donald Trump, I view him as a type of Samson, whom YHWH raised up to bring down the Temple of Dagon on the Philistines. Read Judges 13-16 and then look at the characteristics Donald Trump shares with Samson: Doesn’t drink, ever; has really wild hair; is really harsh if you treat him badly or unfairly; ran around with a lot of foreign women.
Now look at Donald Trump’s slogan: “Make America Great Again”. Alexis de Tocqueville said: “America is great because she is good. If America ceases to be good, America will cease to be great.” Donald Trump knows that in a country overrun with Philistines one can not campaign on “Make America Good Again”. However, if you look at what he says he will do, how offended he is by people lying about him, how offended he is with dirty tricks, how he hates the corruption in American government, etc. you know that he is trying to do is make America good again. So Donald Trump is bringing people out of the shadows, so to speak, and giving them hope that things can be better. This puts them out in the world where the Holy Spirit can bring believers into contact with those who are to be saved. So that is the spiritual aspect of the Trump campaign.
On the Bible Prophecy side, how is YHWH going to convince the Iranians that 2017 would be about the last time they, with their allies, can wipe out the United States and attack Israel to wipe it off the map?
How about we elect Donald Trump and he starts to make the American Military so strong that no one will want to mess with us? How about if he starts to root out the Muslim Brotherhood infiltration of the Government? In fact, the threat of having Donald Trump in the Whitehouse may well trigger the attack that is described in Ezekiel 38:10-13, which YHWH does not stop, so that the attack in Ezekiel 38:14-23, which YHWH will stop can take place. Then the End will come.
When the world gets to these critical points, there isn’t anything one can do to change the course set by YHWH for the world. It is much easier if you focus on that narrow way YHWH has for you to do as your part in His magnificent Word.
That’s it. I think there are good signs he doesn’t want to punish any citizen for not violating their own conscience, even though he might not agree.

Very personal. As someone mentioned above, they are voting for a president, not a pastor (or any other kind of spiritual guide/mentor/preacher/etc).
I do not consider preaching and talking about one's specific relationship with God is appropriate for a president. The president is everyone's president, not just Christians, or one particular sect or branch or denomination. What you are describing seems very innapropriate to me, for a president. And what about a Jewish president, or even some other religion? Suppose a Buddhist or Hindu ran for president?
In both the Old Testament and the New, ones relationship with God is about acknowledging one sins against Him and our need for His forgiveness and mercy, and having faith in Him despite our trials.
The acknowledgement you are referring to is in one's own heart and mind, through private prayer and contemplation, or maybe to friends, or family, but in public, to millions of people? To me that is not what a president should be doing.
So do I..and I have been praying for this, God love him!
Praise God
Pray America wakes
Neither did St. Ted of Calgary, but all the Cruzbot accepted that he was born again.
Agreed. That is all that is in any president's purview to begin with.
He doesn't have to prove his religious bona fides to me, to gain my support. It's enough for me that he cares deeply about this country and its people, and wants what's best for America.
Where did you get that stat? I have read that according to Pew Research Center, Evangelical Christians make up p 26 percent of adults in the country, and about 26 percent of eligible voters, and 79 percent of evangelicals voted for Mitt Romney in 2012, a wider margin than they did for Sen. John McCain four years ago, while Obama won the 48 percent of the electorate that was Christian and not Protestant or Mormon -- 50%-48% among Catholics (25% of the electorate) and 50%-49% of "Other Christians" (23% of the electorate).
But the U.S. Census says there are more than 311 million people in the United States. If evangelical adults are 26 percent of them, then there would be 80 million potential voters. Evangelicals made up 26 percent of the 123 million votes that had been counted (about the time the article was written) in the 2008 election, therefore, about 32 million evangelicals voted – 40% of their population.
But there’s a need for context here: (1) They make up just 14 percent of the registered-voter base in the NBC/Wall Street Journal poll. They outpaced that percentage in the presidential election, (2) This is true every other demographic group in the country as well. - http://firstread.nbcnews.com/_news/2012/11/16/15219396-no-its-not-christians-fault-obama-won?lite
More stats and even more by God's grace.
And here is a detailed chart from Pew:

Just happened a couple days ago from what I read, I take Dobson at his word.
