They are trying to define the experience," says Sony's marketing chief as vocal (and sexist?) foes of the female reboot face off against a summer tentpole's trailers. When Sony Pictures' second trailer for its female-fronted Ghostbusters reboot appeared online May 18, fans initially had to find it on Facebook. The studio had switched from YouTube, which hosted the first trailer, in a deliberate effort to combat a cacophony of negative reaction emanating from a very vocal minority online.

Same here, I remember watching it as a kid on ABC Sunday night. The new one looks absolutely terrible and I’m upset that they ruined the series by making this. What trash.
Gay love interest inserted to make it more diverse?
I watched the first YouTube trailer. Most of the negative comments were not based on sexism, they was based on the fact that there wasn’t one scene that was even remotely funny.
I may, if I live long enough to see it when it comes out on TV. That way if I don’t like it I can change the channel with nothing lost.
Bambi will find a way to make viewing in public schools mandatory.
The only way to beat the haters is to re-cast and re-write it.
Its not about women its about these particular women (bad actors) and the horrible script.
I love how everyone who opposes the Leftist PC agenda is automatically a hater.
“Haters gotta hate”
Too bad none of them seem to have mirrors they can look into.
You could remake Ghostbusters with four male actors, and it would still suck. The original movie was great because of the people in it. They are not in this movie, therefore, this movie will suck.
Just as the Magnificent Seven remake will also suck. It does not have Yul Brynner, Steve McQueen, Charles Bronson or James Coburn. It doesn’t matter who they got to be in the remake, because those guys are gone, therefore the remake will suck.
I can not figure out why anybody greenlighted either of these films. They are both doomed from the git-go.
It’s not so much that they put women in the lead roles, it’s that they lack the imagination to come up with movies that are as original and entertaining as Ghostbusters was.
Sad.
A couple things:
Is there no one left in Hollyweird with an original thought?
To REMAKE Ghostbusters is somehow considered a good idea?
This movie has all the makings of a box office disaster. The TRAILER, ostensibly some highlights is BORING.
Sound the siren. There is a BOMB on the way.
“vocal (and sexist?) foes of the female reboot”
So if I rebooted Thelma & Louise with two dudes, and women objected, that would make them sexist?
“The studio had switched from YouTube...” because fewer people will comment on Facebook than Youtube, which matters when 99/100 comments are trashing your big budget blockbuster I guess.
All the marketing know-how and advertising trickery in the world will not help a film if said film sucks so badly that it gives a black hole a run for it’s money.
The trailer is awful. I watched it without preconceptions since I never saw the original. The trailer is just dull, boring, tedious..... if those are supposed to be highlights of the movie then it is a disaster.
minority?
NOBODY likes this fiasco except perhaps some butch man hating feminist.
Sony knows they have been saddled with a legacy steaming pile and are in damage control.
(btw this is the same studio that put out the same fake reviews praising their own movies)
Agreed!
There are movies that are serious and try to present an opinion or belief like Schindlers list and movies that are just supposed to be fun.
Ghostbusters was the later.
Unfortunately, more and more movies are of the former type and I don’t appreciate being indoctrinated while I am trying to have fun. Especially when a ticket costs 12 bucks. I won’t be seeing it either.
“Ghostbusters marks the first major film to get a female-centric redo (plans for others are in the works, from Ocean’s Eleven to The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen)”
With any luck, Ghostbusterettes will be an epic flop and that will spare us from more of these franchise-ruining political remakes.
original movie had actors
the remake has actresses.
the change in the actor/actress is newspeak to push a leftist agenda.
