Rise in production comes just as exports are hit by strong dollar; can you eat three pounds more?

America has built up a glut of cheese so big that every person in the country would need to eat an extra 3 pounds this year to work it off.

“The only other poet that I can think of just now who seems to have had some sensibility on the point was the nameless author of the nursery rhyme which says: ‘If all the trees were bread and cheese’—which is indeed a rich and gigantic vision of the higher gluttony. If all the trees were bread and cheese there would be considerable deforestation in any part of England where I was living. Wild and wide woodlands would reel and fade before me as rapidly as they ran after Orpheus.” — “Cheese,” G.K. Chesterton

I had a gourmet pizza at steakhouse 55, a deluxe restaurant at Disneyland. It had buffalo mozza and get this...chocolate! Unsweetened high quality dark chocolate. It was fantastic. You wouldn’t expect the tastes to work well together, but they did.

Thick crust, or thin crust?

What sort of pizza sauce? The usual? And did they sprinkle the chocolate shavings like other toppings? (I presume they used shavings - chunks would not do a correct melty thing.)

In the last few years even 24 slices of Kraft Deli Deluxe American (1 pound) have gone from $3.99 to $5.99 at my local grocer. I wish this cheese glut would reverse that price trend.

Artisanal hand tossed thin crust, the sauce was a thin sauce paired with thin slices of tomato ala margherita. and the chocolate was laced over the top, thinly like they poured it on like a confectioner would do on handmade sweets.

Take heart amid the deepening gloom
That your dog is finally getting enough cheese.

I know that one.

I was powered by 292 cu in.I was at a the Ford dealership looking at cars when a 18wheeler car carrier pulled up with a load of new cars. I noticed the ‘Stang on the top. I asked the salesman if the car was for sale. He left and came back in 10 minutes and said “Yes, It was available.” Me: “Sold!”
When I drove it away the next day speedo read 6 miles.
Two weeks later new bride, Mrs TaMoDee, and I went on our honey moon!

I was powered by 292 cu in.

Those old Y-Blocks were good motors. We had a dump truck with a 312 in it. It had a Dayton 2-speed rear end, and I twisted one of those 1-5/16" axles off with it once.

” was powered by 292 cu in.”

64 mustang V8’s were powered by small block 260’s. The 292 was the ‘Thunderbird’ engine in the 50’s but in the 60’s was mainly used in trucks.

Fascinating. Thanks for the detail.

I looked over the Steakhouse 55 menu @ Disneyworld, but apparently it isn't on there.

This here looks like a place I'd like to try:

Mercurio's Artisan Gelato & Neapolitan Pizza

It was about 10 years ago. They have master chefs there and they’re always coming up with new appetizers, so I’m not suprised it’s not still on the menu.

That $2.99 was one hell of a long time ago.

Those prices are called a “loss leader” by the way. I have been told that the cheese factory cannot make the cheese for those prices.

It is on my bucket list to go there.

I finally met a man who was a member. He was going to get me in. Then he died suddenly, right after he and wife had a baby. Suddenly I didn’t care about Club 55 as much. But it’s been years and now I would put it on my bucket list again.
