That area of Palm Desert where the garage scene was filmed is all houses today. I lived in the area when that was being filmed.

It’s “Jonathan Winters’s finest hour.”
To: Fai Mao
Just as funny as the first time I saw it. Thanks for sharing.

The making of documentary right below is really good. In making that scene Winters worked Phil Silvers over good.

Some Like It Hot may be as funny or closeI agree. The scene where Marilyn makes her entrance and walks up the stairs. The first time I saw that, I said out loud "Now that's a ripe tomata!" Her comedic talents were under rated.

As far as I can see, American men have been totally emasculated... Yeah, Terry Thomas? in the jeep-like car.

I recall an interview with J. Winters. He discussed how he had been committed to a mental hospital prior to the movie, and the producers gave him a second chance at his career. He said the garage scene was very therapeutic!

My Father was a Mechanic and he used to work on Winter’s old Car back in the 70’s. I think it was a Rambler.
He used to ride around with him whenever he brought it in.
I’ll have to see if he remembers. He’s 93 now.

IIRC Winters did some GM commercials and got a new chevy every now and then for life. Maybe late 70s. Anybody?
