If Your Child Behaved Like Donald Trump Would You Be OK With It? (This op-ed belongs in News)
Townhall.com ^ | February 29, 2016 | Kimberly Fletcher

Posted on 02/29/2016 8:14:26 PM PST by Kaslin

As Super Tuesday draws near and Americans from 12 different states choose their candidate, I want to make one final plea to my friends, fellow tea partiers, patriots, conservatives, and Christians, who will be voting on Super Tuesday.

I know you're tired of losing. I am too. I know it feels good to have someone voicing our frustrations and be heard for a change. I know it feels like voting for Trump will send the establishment, the media, and everyone who has ignored us for the past eight years a powerful message. I know it feels good to finally feel like we can win. But please, for one moment, before you mark ballot, consider what we're winning. And ask yourself, if your child behaved like Donald Trump would you be okay with it?

Before you jump on the "You're just a Trump-basher" bandwagon, I ask you, as one of you, to please hear me out.

I know how frustrated you are. I've been on the frontlines of freedom fighting this fight for 16 years—a mere fraction of the years many of my friends have spent—and I can assure you, we are extremely frustrated. I was thrilled in 2009 when the liberty movement emerged and so many Americans became engaged. It was absolutely exhilarating to see Americans start to search their history and study the Constitution. The National Center for Constitutional Studies has been teaching Constitution Seminars for decades. I only needed 30 people to hold one but I couldn't ever find enough people interested. In the fall of 2009 I had 200 people sign up—and a waiting list, because 200 was all the room would hold. I hosted several more seminars after that including one in the Ohio State Capital building for State Legislators. It was energizing and inspiring. And while I loved seeing rallies overflowing and rooms filled to capacity, I knew it was only a matter of time before people started going back to their lives and stop paying attention again.

It's not a criticism; it is just a fact of life. We all have families, jobs and obligations. We don't have time to march on D.C. every time our elected leaders ignore us. And really, what good does it do when we take time out of our lives and money out of our checkbooks to fly to Washington D.C. by the hundreds of thousands –twice—and are still ignored?

So now, after putting our hope in the Supreme Court—only to be disappointed; and then in the 2012 election—only to get Barack Obama for four more years, we find ourselves angry, frustrated, fed up—and putting all our hopes in one man. Though I know you neither want to hear it nor believe it, if you put all your hope in Donald Trump, I assure you, you will be disappointed once again. The tyranny and oppression in our country is too wide and too deep for one person to fix it—no matter how loud or aggressive they are. Our state legislatures, city councils and school boards are just as bad, sometimes worse, but we completely ignore them. An election cannot make America great again. Donald Trump cannot make America great again.

Only you and I can make America great. So I have to ask again, if your child behaved the way Donald Trump does, would you be okay with that?

Would you be okay if your son called a girl ugly? Would you be okay if your child used vulgar language, made fun of other people or behaved rudely? Do you want your children to grow up thinking the measure of a person's worth is how much money they make? Do you want them growing up believing something is only worth fighting for when you win? Do you want your child to be popular no matter how they gain their popularity or do you want them to be a good person even if it means they stand alone?

We are sending a message to our children folks. They are watching us. What message does it send our children when we say it's okay to vote for someone who is rude, abrasive and vulgar as long it's directed toward someone we're mad at?

What message does it send our children when we support someone who says, "I could shoot somebody and wouldn't lose any voters."

What message does it send our children when we vote for someone who publically and unapologetically cheated on his wife, uses vulgar, degrading language, and openly advocates a sexually immoral lifestyle?

Rebecca Hagelin wrote an excellent article on Townhall.com addressing Donald Trump's promotion of the porn industry in his hotels, his playboy behavior and his current wife's nude modeling.

"That's right,” says Hagelin, "if the GOP continues down this path of madness we will have a presidential nominee that degrades women, has bragged about his adultery, has made money off of strip tease shows, and a First Lady that has posed totally nude."

What message are we sending our children when this is who we are supporting? What message are we sending when we ignore everything we know to be true simply because we want to win for a change?

The people we elect are a representation of who we are ourselves. Is this really who we want to represent us to the world? Is this really who we have become as a people?

Neil Postman said, "Children are the living messages we send to a time we will not see." What message are we sending?

If you would not be okay with your children behaving the way Donald Trump does then why would we want him to be our president?

Heaven help us if this is the message we decide to send our children.

TY for the details. It looks like Trump is not the shirker some of us think he is. Again, thank you.

Apparently we now have to come over to chat to find anything negative about Trump.

I was watching a documentary on mental illness and I think Donald Trump may be bi-polar.

He has all the symptoms. Manic outrageous behavior with an element of charm at times.

Followed by down periods of grievance collecting, brooding, getting revenge on people.

We may be electing a man who is dangerously mentally ill.

By the way, Ben Carson denounced Trump today.

I think Ben’s support will go to Cruz. It’s not a lot but it’s some.

I am back on board with Ben. He redeemed himself today.

He then announces the immediate closing of dozens of agencies and massive layoffs of civil employees (I do feel for those employees). He then demands an audit of all welfare programs and demands the termination of duplicate programs. He then passes out his tax plan with a proposed schedule with the goal to have it passed by June 1, 2017. He then announces the building of the wall to begin on federally owned land starting February 1, 2017.

I dream of that. That is what an executive does.

You are talking about the primaries.

I’m worried about the election.

I would Vote for my Dog against Hillary and she (my Dog, not Hillary BTW) sniffs other Dogs Butts, craps in the Yard in front of God and everybody and will bite your hand off if you try to take away her Food Bowl while she’s eating.

So what’s your point, you want Hillary as POTUS?
Good for you. Heck, I would Vote for you or any of the Republican Contenders over Hillary and I have no idea who the hell you are.

Now you can respond to my Post up thread (to Kaslin) asking which BLUE States the three remaining Republican Nominees will take that Obama got in 2012.

Three Columns, one for each Candidate and double spaced will be sufficient. I prefer CAPS for the Candidates Names.

You are asking something of Trumpers that they cannot do.

Think realistically.

They have entered the Twilight Zone of Trump Cultism.

Everything evil that Trump has done is now embraced by them as a virtue.

He has corrupted Free Republic and much of society.

I know you are striking out in bitterness.

Your pain shall be short-lived, however: Cruz is going down.

I think he will win a plurality in Texas (thanks in part to early voting which predating the groundswell for Trump in New Hampshire and South Carolina)...but that is likely the only state he will win, and it is not winner-take all.

Trump will lose Minnesota to Rubio, and likely finish second (by surprise) in one other state.

But at that point Trump will have a commanding lead, the other candidates will be running out of money, and they shall have to drop out in short order, as having more than one rival to Trump guarantees him a large enough plurality going forward, that he will enter the convention with a naked majority of delegates.

Face it like an adult.

Except the FACT that you have NO PROOF he BOUGHT an 4-F Deferment. Speculation is so speculative, don’t you think?

Dan Rather said G.W. Bush didn’t fulfill his Air National Guard Duty and his Daddy got him there to keep him out of Vietnam, yet he had no evidence to prove those allegations either.

My Lottery Number was 207. Two of my Friends were #1 and #3.

They joined the Air Force. Are they Draft Dodgers?

Unlike the character in No Time For Sergeants, they had no interest serving in the Infantry. Some would think they got out of something even though they served.

There are a whole lot of things that happened back then. I am in no way defending anyone here, just saying that throwing out allegations without any proof does not help your argument. Fake but Accurate doesn’t fly here.

No, I’m talking about the three Men left standing, one of which will be the Republican Nominee in the General Election.

Great deflection though.

Ping me when you have the information I requested.

Thanks in advance.

""Won't someone think of the CHILDREN?!""

Next they will putting up ads like this one:

The picture of the sweet girl picking daisies goes dark and a nuke goes off. Then the words:

"These are the stakes to make a world in which all of God's children can live or to go into the darkness. We must either love each other or we must die. Vote for President Johnson on November 3. The stakes are too high for you to stay home.

“Except the FACT that you have NO PROOF he BOUGHT an 4-F “

And A_Tradition_Continues will never produce any proof, because no doctor ever did classify Trump 4-F.

She is engaging in a particularly nasty bit of slander playing on the fact that only males in our 60s will catch on to her lies.

Trump was classed 1-Y when he graduated college in 68. That’s the only time a doctor evaluated him below 1-A.

1-Y means Trump was available in a national emergency. He kept that rating until the Selective Service abolished the category on its own in December 1971 and reclassed all 1-Ys as 4-F.

So there was never any doctor selling Trump a 4-F rating. That’s just a big steaming lie, invented by the ever honest A_Tradition_Continues.

A_Tradition_Continues even has the audacity to wrap her lie up in the Vietnam dead. Some people are beneath shame.

While Trump has been living La Dolce Vita, Ted Cruz has been before the Supreme Court fighting and winning cases for all of us. He has four times the brains of Trump, ten times the class and has presidential balance and demeanor. He has a beautiful wife and children. He is hated by the GOPe because he has stood up to them time and again. He is a genuine conservative, not a convenient one.

You know what Trumps all that? Young Teddy Cruz was born in Canada!

Early this morning wake up, call your doctor and ask him for a few of real strong tranquilizers. Happy Super Tuesday my friend.
