Donald Trump isn’t funny anymore, and we all have to stop him
Washington Post ^ | 2-29-2016 | Michael R. Strain

Posted on 02/29/2016 6:09:35 AM PST by Citizen Zed

The president is our head of state — our chief public representative, a living symbol of the nation. However he would actually govern, Trump is simply unfit to hold this office.

He called for a Muslim registry. He wants to send Syrian refugees back to Syria. He has publicly employed misogyny and has publicly enumerated lists of women with whom he would like to have sex. He has mocked the disabled. He admires Vladimir Putin. He might have ties to organized crime. From the start, his campaign has appealed to the darker angels of our nature, generating support by attacking the vulnerable and rousing fear and suspicion of the other. It is no surprise that years before the 2016 campaign, Trump was a leading figure stirring suspicion that President Obama was not born in the United States.

Trump is deeply morally offensive. Why would we assume he would not continue to be that way as president?

His campaign spokeswoman, Katrina Pierson, tweeted the following in 2012: “Perfect Obama’s dad born in Africa, Mitt Romney’s dad born in Mexico. Any pure breeds left?” National Review wrote about this last month, arguing that Pierson’s “nativism includes a bizarre streak of anti-Catholicism,” among other ugliness. Why does Trump continue to employ her? Why would we assume his White House press secretary would be any different?

And don’t forget this weekend’s atrocious incident in which Trump initially declined to condemn the Ku Klux Klan.

This was never said of Clinton or Obama, only Republicans.

I voted early for him last week. He will take Georgia handily. Cruz in his infinite wisdom in hooking up with Rubio to try and defeat Donald will very likely take third behind Rubio. Smart thinking that there.

Trump is simply unfit to hold this office.

True.

But the same is true of Barry Soetoro, B J Clinton, Jimmy Carter, AlGore, John Effin' Kerry, Walter Mondale, Feel The Bernie Sanders, and Hildebeeste Clinton.

Among others.

And they are orders of magnitude less fit for the White House than the professional buffoon Trump.

So where's the Washington Compost's outrage regarding them?

Hmmmmmm???

Your silence speaks volumes, Compost.

Hey WP, Obama added $10 Trillion to the national debt, Obama lied about ObamaCare, Obama corrupted the DOJ and the IRS, Obama and Hillary allowed Americans including the US Ambassador to die in Benghazi, Obama prosecuted Pretraeus but not Hillary, Obama set race relations back decades and much more, yet you complain about Trump who actually did build that. The WP never ever complained about Obama.

We are sick of you and the UniParty.

And as we all know, things that "loom" are clearly dangerous and should be avoided. The voters did so and, as we all know, Kennedy won.

Only due to the turnout in a number of Chicago area cemeteries!

“Trump was too busy turning his incredible pragmatic mind towards his business”

I’m concerned he’ll run the country like his Trump Mortgage.

I've never voted early...don't trust the system. May be a generational thing, old farts might just like showing up on election day or primary day and voting. Good to hear about Trump's strength in GA...he's doing well in VA too. I think some people are going to be stunned tomorrow night!

That is presently stated positions are only as resolute as he wants them to be... I will go with what he has done over his life not what he says of late.

If he (shudder) is the nominee I hope his positions stay as he says them now, but I some what doubt they will after all the deal would be done time for the next deal.

Well, we know what Rubio is about.

I am fine with either Trummp or Cruz. I prefer Trump because I believe he can draw in enough disaffected voters to thrash Hillary or whoever else the Dems put up. I just don't see that in Cruz, but I would still gladly support him in the general.

I trust my county election supervisor. I also worked the polls a few years ago here and they are fair, but they don’t cotton to not proving you are eligible to vote.

First they ignore Trump.

Then they laugh at Trump.

Then they attack Trump.

Then Trump Wins.

Sounds like the Post is moving on to stage 3.

They have no problem with Hillary - as corrupt a politician this country has ever seen. I’d rather have uncouth than a corrupt, lying witch.

when I grew up election day was a 'thing'. Still is for me. I enjoy going to the firehouse and casting my ballot on election day. I know the world is moving past me but I'll hang on to the old things I'm comfortable with for as long as I can. And I'm not REALLY an old fart yet...only approaching 60. And once I hit 60 the old fart appellation gets moved from 70 years old to 80 years old.

Understand. But our State Authority controlling elections isn’t a possible/likely Democrat, and we do fair elections in my county I am sure.
