Explanation: What caused this unusual light rock formation on Mars? Intrigued by the possibility that they could be salt deposits left over as an ancient lakebed dried-up, detailed studies of these fingers now indicate a more mundane possibility: volcanic ash. Studying the exact color of the formation indicated the possible volcanic origin. The light material appears to have eroded away from surrounding area, indicating a very low-density substance. The stark contrast between the rocks and the surrounding sand is compounded by the unusual darkness of the sand. The featured picture was taken with the Thermal Emission Imaging System on the Mars Odyssey, the longest serving spacecraft currently orbiting Mars. The image spans about 10 kilometers inside a larger crater.

Whoa!
Unlike anything else we’ve thus far seen from Mars.
HEY..... LET’S WASTE A FEW TRILLION TO REVIVE A SPACE PROGRAM.....
look, if there is ANY REASON whatsoever to excplore space.... let the commerical interests do it.... thus far.... there are none.... except possibly to put EVERY SINGLE USELESS GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEE, STARTING with THE WH...... PUT ALL OF THESE USELESS PROTOPLASMS ON MARS.....
Interesting time line, craters
all over except in the rocks.
LOL!
Bryan and I watched “The Martian” last Saturday, and Matt Damon did a great acting job
of being an Earthman stranded on Mars, left behind by the crew of the ship from Earth.
Of course, he was able to care for himself, establish radio contact with Earth, and farm
and feed himself for months.
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t like Damon because he’s a flaming leftist, but that doesn’t
mean I don’t enjoy his movies, especially when he doesn’t interject politics into the part.
:’)
Hey, try chopping up your psych meds and snorting them.
Sweetest, beautiful you!
Thanks for your movie review.
I trashed my VCR and don’t want to watch movies online.
Hope you’re doing A-OKay!
Really miss seeing you daily!
I lurk on the FReepathon thread, but don’t really have much
to say anymore. The year of chemo knocked me for a loop,
and things are still a bit fuzzy for me.
My plan is to start exercising again and slowly ramp up to my
former routine. Treadmill, free weights, a bit of yoga, and a
few other exercises that I can do on the treadmill when it is
shut off, since it has a handy bar to hang onto.
I can get it back again, I’m sure. May take a while...
