Been here since 98, which is why I don't toss out the "I've been here longer so shut up" tactic that sadly has reared its head a lot lately. When I try it- some class of 97 guy kicks my arse and calls me noob. (yeah, old joke but I laugh)
Been lurking more than posting lately but wonder where we all stand on things in this race and on Free Republic.

1. Betweeen Cruz, Rubio, and Trump only...please list in order of preference if they were your only choices for president.
2. Are the current flame wars on Free Republic the same we always see during a presidential primary season or worse?
3. Of these 5 issues only: Abortion, Homosexual Marriage, Illegal immigration, Muslim refugees, Obamacare... please list in order of most important to stop to least important. (Least important in no way means "not important". Even if an issue is #5 on THIS list, its may still be #5 out of 100 issues for you. Im just comparing to these other 4 for perspective.)

I’m only Class of 2005 so I guess I’m a noob. Oh well.
1. Cruz, Trump, Rubio. Cruz is an ironclad Constitutionalist and that is what we need most right now. Trump would be interesting to watch, if he was a conservative. Rubio in 8 years, maybe 12.
2. Worse, but that’s a byproduct of our coarsening society. Just smell the brimstone from some of the posts in this little survey, and we’re all supposed to be FRiends here. We will need teamwork big-time, and soon.
3. Illegal immigration, Muslims, Abortion, Obamacare, Homosexual marriage. With 94 million able-bodied out of work, why do we need even one more immigrant? Close and lock the door for a few years. Muslims in particular we don’t need, judging by the headlines.
Abortion is both a sin and a shame. If you don’t employ countermeasures and Nature takes its course, don’t blame the baby and certainly don’t kill it. There are plenty of couples eager to adopt.
Obamacare has been a cluster-bleep from the git-go. You mean to tell me our brilliant “leaders” can’t come up with something better?
Homosexual marriage? No, it isn’t marriage. Civil unions or something else that requires a divorce lawyer, but it can’t be marriage. Another sin.

2. The same. The Trumpers are a combination of the viscous Palin cult (who love celebrity and think politics is a reality show) and the Buchananites (anti-trade, single issue voters on immigration). They've always been really nasty.
3. ObamaCare, would be 1, and I would group illegal immigration and Muslim refugees as part of the same issue at 2, as most illegals and stateside jihadis are the result of visa overstays, not the lack of "a wall". A wall won't do anything if you don't fix the visa system and airline screening of people coming in. Abortion is important, but I think the issue has run its course and we're likely as pro-life a country as we can get. Gay marriage is decided and is a loser of an issue, much like gun-control is for Democrats.

6. Restoration of respect for the duties of the oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States.

I am of the opinion that if we do not secure the borders and control who is entering the country we will not have a nation. And without national sovereignty none of the other problems mentioned can even be addressed.

2. A bit more vehement this time because of Trump, whose populist non-PC business-oriented approach appeals to many of us but who does not toe the conservative line on all issues
3. llegal immigration, Muslim Refugees, and Obamacare are important issues for national leaders because each has a huge (yuge!) financial cost to taxpayers and because the first two threaten our sovereignty as a nation. While I disagree with Abortion and Homosexual Marriage, the cost they impose is mostly non-financial and personal, and not the business of the federal government. I believe social issues are better resolved at the state and local levels rather than throughy extra-constitutional reach of the federal gov’t.

Illegal immigration and Muslim refugees: If we don’t put an end to the Democrats importing voters and people who want to kill us, we’re doomed. Fix that first or all other issues are moot points. Plug the hole in that dam and there’s a chance we can slowly legislate changes to deal with everything else, and/or change people’s hearts and minds.
