Once confident Donald Trump would win the nomination, Republicans are now split between three candidates
Last week Ted Cruz notched an unexpected victory in the Iowa Caucuses - and now voters have a very different view of Donald Trump's chances in the Republican primary, according to a new HuffPost/YouGov poll.
Importantly, voters are not ready to count Donald Trump out. Two-thirds of likely Republican primary voters describe his second-place finish in Iowa as more of a "temporary setback" than a sign of serious trouble for his campaign. 54% expect Trump to win the New Hampshire primary, where he remains ahead according to recent polls.
But when asked who is most likely to win the primary overall, only 27% of Republicans cite Trump, down 30 points from a poll conducted just days before caucus night. 29% now expect Marco Rubio to be the nominee, following the Florida senator's surprisingly strong finish in Iowa. Last week, only 9% thought Rubio was most likely to win. Expectations for Ted Cruz, at 24%, are slightly behind Rubio and Trump. No other candidate is higher than 2%.
This contrived propaganda.
Why would this even be an issue?
One bizarre state’s blundered caucus does not make an election.
Too bad Reagan dropped out after Iowa in 1980 though.
I thought you Loved polls.
Trump and Cruz (and their supporters) better cease fire on each other until ALL of The Cheap Labor Express candidates are knocked out or the RNC/GOP is going to deliver the amnesty candidate they owe them.
If they are real polls — not this crap.
This is crap.
Actual poll Trump was 54 to 13. Then when asked who would get nomination the lower numbers came into play.
The second question is just regurgitation of media.
The mainstream media’s hyping up Rubio who s the most vulnerable of all the nominees.
The RNC/GOP is for Hillary in the White House, yes, I am going to say it. There is no other conclusion anyone could reach. It has utterly failed to put forth a viable candidate, unbelievable. So disgusted!!
Trump was the half-wit that started this nonsense. Maybe he should unilaterally cease and desist.
The two polls are New Hampshire and the a National Poll. Trump’s 30 point drop came in the National poll.
Cruz IS Cheap Labor Express!
Why else does he say Americans support a pathway to legalization and that he supports it?
Such a STUPID position obviously and fundamentally transforms our population.
The got-to position for the Republican Establishment is to settle for Herself, if they cannot get their patsy up there slotted in either to lose to Herself, or to ably extend and continue the current policies now in force as it relates to control (or lack of it) in regards to illegal immigrants, some form of “fixed” Obamacare, and of course, no rein-in on most of the social entitlements spending.
Do you think your efforts make a difference?
I would ask Trump or Cruz zealots.
I think we get 10-20,000 hits a day with 1500-2000 unique posters
Only because, sadly, he is the strongest of the GOP Candidates.
I agree.
Ah, I see we have another snipe hunt going on.
What Do RUBIO, HILLIARY, McCain, LIBYA & ISIS have in common
There has been a couple on here who just keep posting their crap since this morning against the other candidate and I suspect they must be paid staffers.
Either thinking they are helping their guy of which they are not.
Or.
They are fueling the argument between Trump and Cruz t get their establishment Rubio in.
Ok, why with NH in three days, wouldn’t the headline be “Trump breaks 50% in New Hampshire”.
Why try to imply he’s stumbled when he’s kicking butt in the upcoming race.
