Cleveland â Johnny Manzielâs weekend itinerary remains a mystery.
The Browns were not commenting on a report that their polarizing quarterback, who sustained a concussion last week in Kansas City, went to Las Vegas on Saturday as his teammates got ready for their season finale.
Manziel was not going to play Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers because he was in the N.F.L.âs protocol on head injuries. Manziel was hurt while rushing for 108 yards in a loss to the Chiefs.
USA Today quoted an employee and patron who said they saw Manziel at Las Vegasâ Planet Hollywood on Saturday. The report said he ate at a restaurant in the casino and sat down at a blackjack table.
It was not clear if the team has a policy prohibiting players from traveling when they are out with an injury.
Typically, players who have concussions are sensitive to noise and light, and are encouraged to rest as they recover. The Browns do not require concussed players to be at the stadium for home games.

Does Ryan Leaf ring a bell??
The Browns have never moved up to the Curse level!(and this is from a lifelong Browns fan!)I won’t go on my normal rant about “the fumble”, “the move”, “the drive”, etc. etc. I have done something horrible in my past life to make me a Browns fan and I must accept my fate!
I won’t be taking that bet. I’m of the age that remembers Bobby Layne...and Altie Taylor, Alex Karras, Greg Landry, Charlie Sanders.
Egads..I’m old!
Yep, same here for this Lions fan.
Problem was he wasn’t doing his job. He was showing up at practice hung over. Had no knowledge of the play book his rookie year. Browns had to send people to his house to wake him up when he got drunk with Josh Gordon and missed a meeting. His rookie year was a waste.
On or off the field ? :-)
Hey, that’s Amy Schumer’s brother, right?
Wait a minute — Manziel is a Texas kiddy.
I guaranty you, much booze is successfully consumed along the banks of the burning river.
As a Colts fan, I look at our season this year - the injuries, the conflicts, the embarrassing blowout losses, the leadership vacuum, being shut out of the playoffs in the most painful way possible - and get really depressed.
Then I say to myself, “Self, all things considered, a Browns fan would probably take this shitty season in a heartbeat.” Then I don’t feel so bad.
Seriously, bro, that’s a hard hand you’ve been dealt.
Lol. Amen. I’d trade teams with you immediately. At least when you guys tank a season, you know how to get a quarterback.
Because the owner wants to make sure the new coach knows who is really in charge. The GM didn’t hire the last coach, did he?
Look how well THAT worked out.
Reading down the thread - did they think he had a concussion because he was slurring his speech and had glassy eyes? Or did he have a headache the next morning after celebrating a loss?
Johnny Party, regardless the consequences.
They said he reported to practice complaining of a headache and “concussion-like” symptoms.
the last two disasters making draft selections for the Jets were capologists (Idzik and Tannebaum)...
btw- looks like Haslam took the first step in trying to void the remainder of the contract:
Johnny Manziel failed to check in with Browns’ medical staff Sunday
Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel failed to check in with medical staff Sunday morning at the team’s facility, as players with concussions are required to do, team owner Jimmy Haslam said Sunday night.
Haslam said he did not know if Manziel had been in Las Vegas, after rumors surfaced Saturday night that Manziel was seen at a casino.
“I haven’t seen Johnny and I’m not sure if those reports are accurate or not,” Haslam said. “As I’ve told you, we expect a lot out of players on the field, and I’ll just leave it at that.”
But a Browns executive tells ESPN’s Adam Schefter that after looking into the rumors, the team believes that Manziel was not there.
Another source familiar with the situation told Schefter, “Obviously, there’s been some miscommunication as to what concussed players’ schedules and requirements are.”
Manziel was not required to be at the Browns’ season-ending game against Pittsburgh, but his missed treatment and his off-field behavior the past month has not endeared him to the team.
I don't blame the players. In the time I've lived here, 10 years now, it never gets better. There's no serious attempt to maintain high standards and discipline.
the short answer to your question is no...
Cleveland is a sheetshow...last time they had two morons calling the shots, joe banner and mike lombardi and NO ONE wanted the Browns coaching job in 2014..it got so bad candidates the Browns considered for HC refused to even interview for the position...finally they were able to rope in Pettine, who wasn’t even on their short list from the get go, then two weeks later, after lombardi and banner were fired, they promoted Farmer from within...
Hangover?
Sounds like Haslam is about as bright as his RINO brother, governor of Tennessee.
