Donald Trump was on Face the Nation, and had an epic tantrum. Right now he's so scared of losing to Ted Cruz, he's having to lash out in ridiculous ways. It's interesting seeing what Trump looks like when he's behind, he knows he's behind, and he's wetting-his-pants scared of being the big, fat loser.
Here's the key transcript:
DICKERSON: When you say about Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) 100%, "Not too many evangelicals come out of Cuba," what does that mean?
TRUMP: Well, it just means that Cuba generally speaking is a Catholic country. And you don't equate evangelicals with Cuba. I don't. I mean, I think of evangelicals, and i have, I guess I am. You know, I'm Presbyterian. I'm Protestant. But I don't see it coming out of Cuba.
DICKERSON: But you're not questioning whether - I mean, as far as you know, he could be more devout than you are.
TRUMP: It's possible. Certainly it's possible. I'm not questioning it. And I say it in a somewhat smiling manner. But there's a little truth to it.
What strikes me first about this is that Trump feels the need to attack Ted Cruz's Christianity as fake. Trump wants you to think that Cruz is a secret Catholic, only pretending to be a Baptist (SBC) in order to get votes in Iowa.
Does anyone actually believe this? If you've ever heard Ted Cruz speak in your life, you know that he's been going to and paying attention in church. His style of speaking is the tell. He gets in your face, he lectures you. He wants you to get right with government. He could sprinkle his speeches with "Can I get an amen?" and it would sound natural. You can't look into his heart and know what he truly believes, but it's obvious he's been going to church and paying attention to his pastors.
But next, it's obvious Trump is pretty out of touch with what's going on in Presbyterianism in America. He's so hot to try to tar Cruz as a secret Catholic, but when given the chance, he's not taking a stand in the great conflict right now in American Presbyterianism. Let me explain.
The biggest Presbyterian Church in our country is the Presbyterian Church (USA). PCUSA currently has about 1.7 million members. That's been dropping for decades, but it started dropping faster in 2012, after the 2011 ratification of Amendment 10-A to the Book of Order, which would allow ordination of non-chaste homosexuals.
The large drop represents entire local churches abandoning PCUSA in favor of the Presbyterian Church in America. PCA takes a much more traditional view on most social issues, and has grown to have about 350,000 members. PCA and PCUSA have had to go to court over the ownership of church buildings and property, of the local congregations who flipped from PCUSA to PCA.
For Trump to speak of himself being Presbyterian, without mentioning which kind of Presbyterian he is, tells me one thing: Trump likely attends church at a PCUSA congregation, which would mean he stuck with the group that permits abortion (it is deemed morally acceptable), homosexual priests, homosexual 'blessings' as pseudo-marriages, and free divorce.
Donald Trump is throwing stones, but the evidence suggests he's got a glass house on this issue. Not a smart tactic, and a mark of scared desperation on his part.
So much so, that Erick Fat Faced Errickson got fired from Red State.
“Trump Is So Scared of Losing Iowa to Cruz, He’s Wetting His Pants”
Childish headline is childish.
Watch all of ‘em obsess on the headline (which was over the top) and the venue (a bit on the establishment side) and simply ignore the substance of the article - which was what Trump said (again) - and which has absolutely nothing to do with a childish headline....or the website. TRUMP SAID IT.
I’m getting the impression for Iowa on the right it is more about religion than politics.
I’m glad that Trump want Cruz want to fight for every state but I think after Iowa it goes from Cruz to Trump control.
I think Cruz will be a great President, but I bet the fastest way he sees that office is through the VP SPOT with Trump.
I did originally donate four times to Cruz, but I don’t see a President Cruz coming out of this.
Facts:
1) Except in the very odd/exceptional election year of 1964, the Dems haven’t cracked 50% of the whites in a Presidential election since 1932
.
2) Once the ‘64 election was over, the Dems understood that they would never win another Presidential election again unless the Republicans REALLY screwed up...or unless they changed the electorate in a dramatic way.
3) The Dems, courtesy of Bobby Kennedy who wrote the law, and Teddy Kennedy who pushed it in the Senate, passed the 1965 Immigration Act. That law dramatically reduced immigration from our then-traditional large sources of immigrants - England, Ireland, Holland, Germany, etc. - and replaced them with vast numbers of Turd Worlders...whom everyone knows vote around 80% for Dems, and will continue to do so for the rest of their lives, as new immigrants have traditionally done.
4) As a result of the ‘65 Act, and due to the Dem’s outright lying in ‘86 regarding an effective (or any) fence, there are now probably 30 - 40 million illegals in this nation. Note that the (probably low-ball) figure in 2005 was 11 million...we have 2-3 million come in every year, so simple math says that the number is actually somewhere between 31 and 41 million). If any substantial portion of these people ever become citizens, then the Dems will have accomplished a complete shift of the electorate, and will be virtually invincible on the national level. Every state will become like California, both politically and economically - which is to say, overwhelming Dem and broke. But at least if you don’t like California now, you can leave for a better place without much trouble - where are you going to go if EVERY state is like that?
5) Every Republican, and every Conservative voter MUST UNDERSTAND that if such a state of affairs comes to be, NO OTHER ISSUE WILL MATTER AT ALL, because we will ALWAYS AND FOREVER lose on those issues. Immigration is THE issue of this election, and this election is as critical as the 1860 election was - and for the same reason, because it will determine whether this nation continues on as it has existed in the past, or becomes a new and unrecognizable entity that simply occupies the same geographic territory.
Please wake up, and help others to do so by sending them this post (or recommending “Adios America” to them). It really is THAT important.
The only one who is wetting his pants is Jeb Bush. The establishment has spent and will spend tens of millions to help his campaign and they’re not getting a good rate of return for their contributions.
If the article had any substance, then they wouldn’t need the stupid headline.
Wishful thinking troll is wishful thinking
-—No one HAS to win Iowa.——
EXACTLY...
Right over their heads. :)
You must have been watching a different Face the Nation...probably the one in your own personal safe space.
The more juvenile comments and posted articles from questionable sources like Redstate I read from Cruz supporters, the less I like them and their candidate.
I am very confident a whole lot of folks feel the same.
I didn’t write the article. I don’t agree with the hyperbole of the headline, but Trump did trot out another lame attack on Cruz’s religion. Why would he do that?
How many candidates have won Iowa and lost the nomination?
How many have lost New Hampshire and won the nomination?
In your zeal to demean Trump, you are now quoting Red State?
Pathetic. But we already knew that.
“And I say it in a somewhat smiling manner. But there’s a little truth to it.”
He’s freaking crazy!
They are ignoring it because it has no substance...it’s a “so what???” It wasn’t an indictment just a bit snarky..boils down to nothing. What Trump said was factual, it was the gentlest of slurs if it were even a slur. It might have been just a reaction to the way that Cruz has been stepping up his appeal to evangelicals. This hypersensitivity to veiled criticism seems weak not strong. Cruz is comfortable with who he is and is not threatened.
Bingo! Red State will never recover from that.

Jezz, RINO Red State just don’t give up with their continuous anti-Trump rants, do they?
This one is about the worse yet, reaching new levels of screechy desperation.
(Normally, I’d repost this comment on red state, but I’ve been banned every time I disagree with an author there, so I’ve given up; probably not worth the effort anyway.)
