Gloria Steinem thinks the United States is ready for a female commander in chief, but said during an interview on ABC News' "This Week" that "it is going to be hell."
The activist and writer sat down with ABC News' Cokie Roberts to discuss her recently published book, "My Life on the Road," which chronicles her journeys around the world educating herself and others about the women's movement over a period of five decades.
Steinem was an early Hillary Clinton supporter, but even as recently as 2008, she did not believe the country was ready for a woman to crack the ultimate glass ceiling.

Somehow I don’t think she’d say that if Sarah Palin was the Republican nominee, only liberal women count in their minds as “women.”
In a contest for the world the masculine cultures and nations will overrun the feminine cultures and nations. My wife has maintained for many years that giving women the vote is the downfall of the West. The one (of three) daughter who pays attention to things political concurs. Women should not have the vote but should be eligible to run for and occupy any office.
A competent, intelligent, trustworthy, honest, moral, Conservative, Constitution obeying, America loving woman would be fine with me, but shrillary scores a big fat 0% and will never get my vote and Fiorina is just a smidgen better than shrillary.
