Heh,

I believe that Windows 10 tricks says it all... We have had enough of Microsoft’s tricks I’d say. Anyway, their latest tricks 7 or even 8.1 is enough for me...finally got it right after many months. Now finally their tricks have been removed in earlier versions.

Now if you folks just have to upgrade to the latest tricks, well, you are simply welcome to do so at your own risk!

Heaven help you folks...

Adblock Plus and Ghostery. Use them. Love them. Use something like NoScript if necessary.

No more loading like Shiite.

Take a chance then.

Some troll or other recently was whinging about how I only seemed to post things detrimental to the ‘doze platform so this was the way I chose to respond. I recognize that there are quite a few users out there that use it, and in fact many of the customers I work with do so as well, so since so many are so willing to Do The Lemming and install win10, I thought I would post something that might help their transition just a bit.

Some seem to appreciate the tips posted, so at least there is some happiness out there in windowsland this night. :)

Cheers!

Microsoft has expanded its diagnostic data collection with Windows 10, making mandatory what had been a voluntary telemetry program. source

There’s no doubt about it: Windows 10 is studded with data-tracking tidbits and hooks into all sorts of Microsoft’s online services. Handing over all that data has some tangible benefits, like Windows 10’s OneDrive integration and the Bing-powered brains behind the Cortana digital assistant, but not everyone is thrilled with the idea of an operating system that’s constantly looking over their digital shoulder. source

Why Microsoft yanked its latest Windows 10 update download: It hijacked privacy settings source

No thank you Microsoft. I will pass.

Can't be better explained than:

It's all clearly outlined in the Microsoft Privacy statement, which says that Redmond collects data when you "create a Microsoft account, submit a search query to Bing, speak a voice command to Cortana, upload a document to OneDrive, or contact us for support." PC Mag source

Oh Yeah! You’ve got that right and yet it seems that most folks read right past that or just don’t care! What a grandiose statement their policy is!! How about you have no privacy on the internet when you deal with us on any program, that would at least cover it. Microsoft has become the snoop of the internet users it seems.

Probably does not matter though as I am beginning to think that most companies use personal information for their benefit anyway...geez!

It is interesting but you should have provide links to so many other articles about Windows 10, the good and bad! Now that would have been a interesting story.

Next time, look at both sides of the issue and maybe showing some integrity.

Fortunately, even on Windows, you can set a lot of the stupid tracking to localhost via the LMHOSTS (i.e., open graph and facebook crap), except for the microsoft sites which bypass LMHOST. Would love it for a freeper to post a work around, but I have not seen anything yet. New Linux Machine on order. Cannot wait. Thankfully I use throw away email accounts. Can drop the email and everything resets.

Here is a list of a few paths you can paste into the Run command (Windows key + r) some might find helpful
control.exe
control printers
C:\Windows\System32\appwiz.cpl
C:\Windows\System32\SndVol.exe
C:\Windows\System32\rstrui.exe
C:\Windows\System32\Sysdm.cpl
powercfg.cpl
C:\Windows\System32\fodhelper.exe

%UserProfile%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch
%UserProfile%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\SendTo
devmgmt.msc
diskmgmt.msc
eventvwr.msc
Run services.msc

Canonical names: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/ee330741%28v=vs.85%29.aspx

But these pings are getting too many for me, so please remove me from ping list. Thanks. Grace and peace thru the Lord Jesus

I understood a lot of people hated Windows 8 so I didn’t upgrade....plus my computer is Vista which has it’s own set of issues. I’ll eventually get a new computer but as long as this keeps on trucking along as it has thus far I’ll stay the course.
