Has the software stopped recognizing special characters?
Posted on 11/03/2015 2:10:59 PM PST by EveningStar
I thought it was just my computer, but a few others are reporting this too. Who else has experienced this?:
It appears that the software is not recognizing special characters such as the smart quote, smart apostrophe, and em (long dash), and other character map symbols - at least in many cases.
Until this is solved, a good workaround would be to use a text editor to replace the smart quote, smart apostrophe, and em with regular quotes, regular apostrophes, and double dashes respectively.

I’ve even seen this phenom affect my Taglines. One in particular with an apostorophe puts crazy garbage in its place at least half the time.

It’s interesting the name “ÃuddaÃudd” seems fine if one views the replies to a post of his. Just not in the thread in general. At least on my end.

Yes I noticed that too. Looks fine in replies for me as well. Just not when he makes a post.

Special characters. Actually, the problem is the massive creeping featurism in web browsers, HTML, and operating systems. The character set is simple and reliable, and always will be.

Is anyone else experiencing this?Have you ever been experienced? Well, I have ...
I actually started seeing it quite a while ago on some summaries on the main page, and then it worked its way into articles posted, and lately into replies.

“”Is anyone else experiencing this?””
Yes - for about two weeks now. Everything on FR.....If there are links to go to, they are ok but not when they are copied/pasted in a thread...Why is it being ignored on FR?
To: EveningStar
They’re working on it?
Well, that’s fine but that was 4 days ago.

Another day, another continuation of the problem. *sigh*. Odd that it’s happening across all browsers, though.
