Did Jupiter Bumped The Giant Planet From Our Solar System?

Toronto– A close encounter with Jupiter about four billion years ago may have resulted in another planet’s ejection from the solar system altogether, scientists have found.

The existence of a fifth giant gas planet at the time of the solar system’s formation — in addition to Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune that we know of today — was first proposed in 2011, researchers said.

Ignoring the delicious headline, just what happens when two gas balls collide?

I have a theory...

Does it have anything to do with a 3,600 year time frame?

I guess we could call it Quintus until we find out what its real name is.

Obviously NASA needs a massive infusion of money to launch a search for the missing planet. When we find it, of course, then the question arises--how do we send it reparations, and who pays?

I vote for the country which had the earliest astronomers. Not sure if that would be Iraq, Egypt, India, or China.

was first proposed in 2011

I seem to recall reading of this theory many times, decades ago from various persons. I think one was Velikosky, Russian guy, saying two planets collided and caused problems on Earth. Debris field is the asteroid belt between Jupiter and Mars. All these guys were laughed at.

OH CHIT, could this be the start of an announcement to the public that Nemesis/planet X actually exists?

Yes, prepare for your new alien overlords, same as the old alien overlords.

This is not new. Velikovsky proposed this theory in 1950's Worlds In Collision.

Ultimately, we found that Jupiter is capable of ejecting the fifth giant planet while retaining a moon with the orbit of Callisto, said Cloutier.

Special pleading!

From my point of view, this is nothing.
