The nonrefundable honeymoon was also paid for in advance, according to KCRA. The would-be wife and her mother were expected to leave for Belize on Sunday.

A honeymoon all paid for and the bride-to-be chooses her mother to go with her?

The groom made a wise choice.

Keep running groom, and don't look back!

Should she have taken some guy she met in the bar that night? Who would you suggest taking?

if it was a guy who was jilted, the ad for a 20 something gal to go to Belize would be put up almost immediately. Either that or ask a hot friend.

The original guests still being invited might have been nice too, as they put the day aside and the party theme could have just changed.

it’s happened in my family when sister didn’t want surprise party and refused to show up when she found out about it a week before.

so we made it an Oktoberfest and had a ball :)

Would you have expected her to have another man on the side, just in case? Or maybe a quick new fling? Who should she have taken in your mind?

Who do you think she should have gone with, instead? Since Mr. Fly-by-Night was not available?

It wouldn’t necessarily mean that they were going to share a room together. They could have been in the same city doing their own thing. I wouldn’t necessarily be opposed to my MIL coming on the trip, as long as she stayed on another floor and went about the vacation time separately.

When you have just experienced the heartbreak and humiliation of being jilted at the alter, who but a mother could comfort the young bride. How nice she has a lovely place to go with her loving mother to look after her, and make sure she does not come to harm. How rotten of you to say such a thing.

My Mom loved to travel, but for many years while I was a kid, my folks couldn’t afford to go anywhere. So when I grew up and started working, I began taking Mom with me. It was a way to give back for all the sacrifices she and Dad made for my brother and me.

My parents are both gone now, and I’ve been on trips with others, but far and away, my Mom was the best traveling companion. Everywhere we went, we had a blast.

This bride has gone through considerable pain. Why shouldn’t she take a vacation with someone she loves?

Sam,, Most daughters wouldn’t be up to take anyone on a trip after being dumped on the alter.

if it were my daughter that this happened to I would suspect she would go with her mother, if she was able to pull herself together and go at all, and I would feel fortunate she didn’t marry this pos.

What’s the matter with her choice?

The way I read it is that the bride’s mother is going to use the groom’s ticket since the groom chickened out and cannot use it.

Oh ha, I can top that nonsense.

On our first date, this guy was telling me about THE most awful wedding experience in his family:

While the ceremony went off without a hitch, the bride (his sister) & new hubby took off for the honeymoon cruise.

Bride’s mother & boyfriend showed up on the same cruise as a “surprise”. (ugh imagine double-dating with your mom on your honeymoon)

Days later, mom’s boyfriend keeled over from a heart attack on said same cruise. Yep, dead mom boyfriend. Honeymoon OVER.

I knew then & there that this honeymoon horror guy wasn’t Mr. Right, as I wept from laughter non-stop. Thought it was the most hilarious thing i’d heard in years.

My date found nothing funny about it. Guess his mom needed therapy or something later to cope, and the dead boyfriend karma thing screwed with his sister’s marriage (according to him). And that made me laugh even harder. Whackadoodles tend to do that.

Probably has nothing to do with this jilted bride & her mom’s honeymoon: I just like sharing that story :-) In fact, i’m laughing and tearing up all over again just remembering it.

Thanks, I needed that!

PS...Bridey should have taken her BFF (or the best man’s stripper girlfriend). BFF’s get you action/distractions when you are at your lowest. Mom just reminds you of the bad stuff.

Huh? Who should she have gone with? Maybe she needed some sympathy and understanding vs. inviting her girlfriends for a party. Not sure what motivated the groom, but I feel awful for this woman.

Whom would you take in the groom’s place if you were the bride?

The bride made a wise decision to take her mother.

Mama may have paid for the honeymoon and she chose the daughter to accompany her.

Frankly, I’m glad the bride to be chose her mom to travel with her on what would have been her honeymoon trip. Her Mom has been through a lot with her daughter, dealing with the groom backing out. I’m just glad he did it BEFORE they got married!
