"I actually turned him down twice when he asked me to marry him."
Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton opened up about her marriage in an interview with actress and activist Lena Dunham published Tuesday.
"I was terrified about losing my identity and getting lost in the wake of Bills force-of-nature personality," she said of the former president. "I actually turned him down twice when he asked me to marry him."
"That was a large part of the ambivalence and the worry that I wouldnt necessarily know who I was or what I could do if I got married to someone who was going to chart a path that he was incredibly clear about. My ideas were much more inchoate. I wasnt sure how to best harness my energies. So I was searching," she added.

Unfortunately, we do know you.
Did he tell you “put some ice on that?”
You should have feared him raping other women and you being forced to help cover it up.
What? No ID, drivers license she couldn’t pull out to check who she is?
Oh my goodness. I just threw up a little in my mouth. What utter horseshit.
OMGOSH!!!
This has got to be the best quote of the day...LMAO...really, shillary, do you really expect us to believe this crap?
If it wasn’t for slick willy, you would be a bigger ‘thing’ floating in the gutters of any city in America....
REALLY??????????? ROFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Which identity is she referring to?
SMRTist woman in the world? Dumbest woman in the world? Stand-up comedian Hillary? Crying Hillary? Grandma Hillary? Southern drawl Hillary? Black Hillary? Chicago Hillary?
Pfffft!
What identity? As a cheat and a liar.....newsflash, you never lost it.
Once upon a time there was a handsome prince, he asked the beautiful princess to marry him, she said NO - and he lived Happily Ever After
LOL
I bet he did.
Of course these people are rotten. However, more frightening is the fact that in our system of government they are SYMPTOMS of a body politic out of shape(to use a metaphor.) Couple these wretches with the fact that the electorate voted twice for a negro community organizer out of Chicago-even after experiencing him for four years-and one can grasp the depth of our political “illness.”
Hillary's one goal was not to become a high-powered DC lawyer, NO!
She instead wanted to marry a senator.
Yep, that's right.
Little Miss "I didn't want to lose my identity" wanted to be a senator's wife.
Force of nature. Is that like rapist tendencies?
Agree... why do we care about what a pathological liar has to say. She
hitched herself to a rising political star hoping some fairy dust would land on her.
Then, why doesn’t she call herself Hillary Rodham instead of Hillary Clinton?
Pretty soon, she will have successfully fended off Bill Cosby’s advances and warned other women, like when she evaded sniper fire.
Look at those flippers.
